| Flashing the your head lights is a common courtesy to let the driver that just passed you there's plenty room to come back it. The right flashing should be done right or the driver might thing something else. Never go to high beam, you'll blind the river. At night just for a spilt second turn your light off. If you don't feel comfortable just leave your light alone and on low beam. The driver of the truck is (or should be) using this only as a tool. There's very little trust put into the fact that the trailer is cleared. I always made sure without anyone's help. But's it's nice to see another dricer that's looking out for me too. But again It's the driver that makes the move and not the lights. So if you flash your lights and the trucks not moving do not take offense to it. But of course if you're flashing your lights correctly and the driver has time he or she should send a thank you by blinking the clearance lights or whatever. WE had a big problem when the truck makers decided to run with the headlights on all the time. A truck would pass and see the headnights on and move over. Of course this is a very inexperience driver and trusted the light too much. You just couldn't turn off the lights without the mechanic going in. WE also had a problem with the lights on when we pulled on the gasoling loading rack. New procuedures had to be written. Just remember it's only a tool and it's always the driver responsibility. Just like the Air Horn. When the kids want you to blow it you sure have to look around so no one will shi--their pants once you've done that they have alot of fun. I remember a bus full of down kids going down the road all asking me to to it. I pointed at their driver and he did it too. We were the only ones out there having alot of fun and I sure those kids are all telling their parents you better buy ARCO gasolione!!! |

| I'm a 4-wheeler who respects truckers... If a trucker wants over to my lane, And I'm about 3/4 on his side, should I back off let him in with lights on and off or speed up just a tad so he can get in behind me... Any preference? |

If he just moved over to let you on the highway then what i say is speed-up,just don't slow down after you do.But if he was in the process of a pass then by all means if you slow a little and let him in he will definitely appreciate it. We all need to show a little more courtesy, and share the road together. Thanks mike |

My husband has taught me to do this. I think it's a great gesture. And it makes me feel safer while around big rigs. And yes, when they don't flash back I wonder what their problem is? But just mark it up to newbie or cocky... hahahaha.
