| Theres a casino on 40 to the west of the FlyingJ on 40 in Albuquerque that has fuel and whatever, and decent food Petro in Amarillo Petro in Okie City Petro in North Little Rock Then I would catch I-24 in Nashville(theres a TA in Smyrna), hit 75 down to Atlanta and run 85 north to SC. You could run 40 over to 81 north to 26 east and get around that rockslide at the Gorge, but that 26 is one hell of a pull. |

It wasn't that long ago when showers were as low as $5 to $6.50.

I wouldn't go to Nashville though... In Memphis I would drop south east on Lamar Ave. (US-78 ) down to Birmingham then I-20 east into South Carolina...

| I'd say about 75% of TX Rest Areas have free WIFI that the public can use.

The little mom and pop south of Detroit I used to stop at is still only $5,....And the were nice clean showers and rooms,........ |

| At a Town Pump in Montana, I went in while driving my car, and asked "How much for a shower?" They said $x or free with a fill-up. So, I filled up my car and they let me shower for free. Go figure. You could always ask another guy who looks like he's going in to shower if you can ask for a free shower. All they have to do is say you're a team and they'll get two showers (that doesn't work at Flying J or Petro, though) |

| Some of the non-branded truckstops will be cheaper on the showers, but they may not be as new as the big fancy stops. As for Wi-Fi, the big fancy truckstops will charge for it, but the smaller stops, if they have it, will prob be free. Some fast-food places like Arby's may also have it, just have to check them out. The weather is cool enough to be able to sleep in your car at night, but be careful of where you park to do that, though! Sometimes my escorts park and sleep beside my oversize loads, and they have never been bothered by anyone at night. |

I guess that is one of the questions I should be asking. Where is the best place to nap. It will probably be during the day. I do best driving at night, but as soon as the sun starts coming up it's like time to sleep. That's one of the reasons I always start out driving at night. Anyway, many years ago I stopped sleeping in rest areas because of the weirdos. I see a lot of trucks pulled off on off ramps. Do you think that would be a safe place for me? Or would a truck stop be better? I will have my pillows and heavy blankets with me. The cooler weather along I-40 is one of the main reasons I am choosing this route instead of I-10. Since I will be sleeping in the truck I prefer it to be cooler rather than hot. I have never traveled this route much less in the fall. Will there be snow along the way at all? I'm not worried about paying $10 for a shower. It will be well worth it. I just want the place to be clean. As far as my route goes, I plan to stay on I-40 all the way to Memphis where I take Highway 78 down to Birmingham and then the I-20 over to Atlanta. Then I-85 out of Atlanta. So, if anyone can advise as to the best places for me to stop at along that route it would be appreciated. I don't want to get too far off the path. I think I should probably invest in a GPS so I don't get lost. I never felt the need to rely on one before but my son made me take his one time and it sure came in handy. It was much easier than trying to read a map.
