I was wondering....

I was talking to another driver yesterday and the conversatin got around to what he was doing before he decided to drive. Turned out he was a desiel mechanic. I have been driving for 15 yrs. I have a BS in Criminal Justice, AS is Social Work and a minor in Spanish with several other almost minors in various other degree fields. Couldn't really decide what I wanted to do in college. I think the parties had something to do with that. When I did, found out that it really wasn't what I wanted to do. Driving pays more anyway. Got a friend that has driven almost as long as I have and he was a college professor. I know several school teachers and some for various other fields or work.

What my question is, what did everyone do before deciding to hit the highway?

What did I do?

I was a logger, until I got too old and fat to do it anymore. Went to Alaska and helped build the haul road, since my Dad was a teamster forman, I learned how to drive from a friend of his on the crew. started driving line after I figured out I could starve to death down here and be alot warmer doing it. here I sit.

Well, I thought I wanted to be a truck driver. I learned to drive a truck then decided to go to school to become a truck driver. In the mid 70's I went up to Cushing, OK to school and then decided that I didn't like being gone from home so much. I do have the utmost respect for truckers and my son became one.
