I am not a trucker. I am trying to put together a business plan for the ultimate truck stop.
What things would you professional drivers want to see at a truck stop?
If you were to find the perfect truck stop what would it have?
What would make a truck stop THE place to stop at over any other?
What restaurants would you like to see at a truck stop?

I am a business student. For my MBA Project I am writing a business plan for "The Ultimate Truck Stop". When I started this it was just a concept. Now it appears that there is a good deal of interest in actually doing this.
If you were to design the "Perfect" truck stop, what would it have?
How big would the spaces be?
What services would you like to see?
What restaurants would you like to see?
What do you hate about truck stops?
What is a diesel satellite pump?
I don't know what I don't know so tell me everything.

1) If it's a TRUCKstop, who's paying you? 'Nuff said on that one!
2) KEEP THE PLACE CLEAN! (Revisit #1)
3) Build a reputation for quality, healthful food! (Revisit #1)
4) If a "ne'er to well" is hanging around....blast 'em out of there! (..who's payin' ya?)
5) If you can't instill a "trucker friendly" attitude in an employee...blast 'em out of there. (Revisit #1)
I can't say much about the other amenities a trucker might be looking for but #s 1-5 above are just plain good business. Good luck to you!pappalion Thanks this. -
watch the history channel/travel channel shows about truck stops from around the world. Combine the best of all of them and you'll have the ultimate truck stop. some of the one's that they show from Europe would blow away anything we have in this country, except may Little America or Iowa 80. Swimming pools, chapels for different denominations, real food, marble showers, plenty of parking, reasonable prices (like c-store prices that are compareable to a grocery store), clean facilities, plenty of fuel islands that work, responsible mechanics, truck washes that do a good job, not a half assed job that you hope will look good.

Clean showers, good reasonably priced food, friendly competent staff. That gives you a good start.
