You need to figure "operating expenses", such as cost of service truck, an operator of said truck, tools, inventory, shop to operate out of, unless you operate out of your house and various other things. You have an idea already of what others are charging.

Thanks for reply, you know, you r right, just a simple break down hammer cost me 145 bucks, the cheapest socket over 27 bucks. and its hard 2 find GOOD used tires for resale that u can make any profit on, gas going up, so 150 for used tire dont sound so bad & about 35 labor 2 mount. thanks

And what about doing the repair at your shop VS doing it on the side of the interstate ? You need to figure that, whether or not you do this 24/7, can you handle 3 calls at once 40 miles apart ? Will you have an inventory of new/used tires, which means $$$ tied up?

I pay $130 to $150 for a god used tire. I won't buy recap or regrooved used. Many of the big truck stops are charging up around $200 and I can get a new one for not much more then that. Many of these shops are charging that much because they are buying their used tires from suppliers

It takes T I M E to get a biz going, you can't just sit and wait for the phone to ring, go out and hit the TS & local Co. and get your name out.

Advertise on nttsbreakdown.com. I guarantee you get calls within a week or two. Also, we advertise at the local truck stop and we get tons of referrals from the place.
