Well here goes...I don't see why not? I have owned two business' already...I figured If I do the research first...it should be easy to do after a year of company driving if I have too...If not even better...Alot of companies have lease/purchase programs...some good...some not...Both my brothers drive..one local, one over the road.. My youngest brother is doing very well with his lease/purchase..he never did OTR...I figured if he can, I can. I'm not totally new to trucking, its been in the family for all my life at one piont or another.,,much has changed..Doesn't mean much until your out there..I do realize that..hell maybe I'm deluted in my thinking...I just can see driving some beat up junk a company will try to pass on as a truck...can't make any money waiting for stuff to get fixed. I will have money for a down payment, and some for when something goes wrong, just not $50,000. oh by the way , I will be driving out of G.A. not Florida..it sux here. All O/O cut the BS by driving for themselves..I figured I would just cut the BS too...

work for micy D's for a cpl weeks look at your pay check and subtract 5% and you will find out how much you make for driving a truck. If you think about all the hours time away from home and the extras you do. then the micy D's check may not look so bad at least your at home and spending time with your family.

Anything more than the weekly advance money is a bonus. Seriously $700 a week is the norm if you can hold the steering wheel 10 a day. I've never made less than $600 and my max as a company driver has been about $1200. Anything under $600 and you're either at the casinos, tricking off with the lot lizards, yacking at the truckstops, or one lazy #######! Just work smart and everything else will workout. Hope this helps!

$150/wk?...You must be one of those biggins! LOL If I spend $15/day, I've spent a lot and I don't cook or carry any kind of food on truck...

i was counting smokes inthat estimate
i almost never eat in a truck stop-----15 a day---what the hell are you anorexic?
at least 2 coffee--and say 4 drinks wether water coke-or what ever--something to snack on--that is already already 10 bucks--add 2 packs of smokes and we are over 24 before i eat---and i only eat once a day---
biguns is right--i gained 20 lbs since i have not been driving---but lost 5 or so and now about 175--still need to drop maybe 10

Maybe its just me, but if you have two brothers in trucking and one is OTR, I would be asking them if you can team up with one so you can make some cash and he will make more also... And that way you know who your getting in the truck with...
