You should make at least $850 a week if not more.

Oh, you're right he might. But I just find it funny that new drivers always seem to think they're gonna make top pay scale right out of school.

If you just graduate from school then your looking at 350 to 390 a week before taxes and your going to be with a trainer for 270 hours. thats werner, covanantk, swift, knight they give you 55.00 a day now when you qualify for insurance and you only are getting 250.00 a week now your down to what 150.00 a week during training if your lucky your not going to make big money out the door of a school it aint going to happen. when your all done and your on the road getting paid mileage safety bonusetc then your going to run for the money. but figure this your getting 400.00 a week unemployment before taxes and you aint working now you see why we have so many lazy people out there.
After a year the trucking angel comes down and gives you a shot of diesel and its in your blood go trucking.

$850 a week is the top? I must be at the super top as I make $1200 to $1500 a week.

My first year I made easily over $850... more like $950 to $1200, but then I didn't go with one of the big 'training' companies.

I meant right out of training, not first year. Very few companies pay more recent graduates more than $600 a week.

I was refering to when I left driving school... We had all the big company's come to try to get us to apply... many went with them...heck, we were encouraged to go with them(so much so, that a few of us were convinced our instructors were getting a kick back $$$ from them, if we were signed on), a few were sure there was a better way. I applied with a small company, was hired... I shadowed another driver for about a week(in my assigned truck), and was cut loose on my own for loads. My first week I made over $900.

My point? There is another way into trucking other than, the big training companies.
