But then again I'm going to college to be a Heavy Duty Truck mechanic (as well as Class A Training), I always give truckers extra space (if I have a truck in the right lane, and I'm in the left I stay behind the trailer and give the trucker the option to switch lanes, and i stay there until i can tell there's enough space for me to pass the truck.), if the road is single lane i try to move as close to the shoulder on the right side and give him/her some of my lane. I also wave or tip my hat to passing truckers to say someone cares from the general public, finally I also try to talk to a trucker or two and say thanks, and that I'm glad for the work they do, while filling up at the truck stop.

I know you're trying, so don't take this the wrong way. On staying behind the trailer in the left lane, how far are you hanging back? Myself, I'd prefer the 4wheeler to just come around, even if it means hanging out by my steers for a short time. When you stay back, that driver has no idea what your doing, and can very easily take it as just another dumb move.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, stay away as far as possible, you already know we need more room, but what about that gator forming recap on the back axle? I don't want to do it, but if I lose a tire, it might go all over you,and that could turn out badly.
Thanks for trying to help, it's too bad more don't do that.:biggrin_25525:

I stay behind the trailer with about half a car length to a car length between me and the trailer, and I try to stay within the line of sight the mirror gives, and I'm only doing that until I know I can pass the truck and have his/her grill in my rear view

Personally, please come around, just don't cut me off when you want back in the right lane. Example of why I feel that way, and this happens way too much. I see a LEO on the side a 1/4-1/2 mile up ahead. There's a 4 wheeler on my left, about half way up, and another hanging back there about where you said you are. I wait for the first one to go by me, hit my left signal, and start to come over. Next thing I know, the 2nd 4wheeler decides, since I hit my signal, it's a good time to take the lane I'm already moving into, because he was hanging back. That happens almost religiously, so I think a lot of us would be wondering what you were doing hanging back. Thanks again for thinking of someone besides yourself, and all may not agree with me. Like I said, I personally prefer you just come around.:biggrin_25525:

I never cut off "Big Trucks" I wait til i see "your" grill in my rear view and then signal then move in. That's why I hang back I give "you" the option to change lanes. Also If the driver doesn't signal then i pass them by.

    johnday Thanks this.

I always hug the shoulder whenever an on-coming truck passes me or whenever he is stuck riding beside me in heavy traffic. And whenever they are right there in the lane next to me and have their signal on, I slow down considerably to let them in as soon as possible.
