Was just curious with all the talk about truckers strikes etc etc when i was driving back in 05 we were on a mile rate of .32c what is the average rate these days ? Has the pay rate come down due to the Great Recession or has it improved? Is anyone out there on a mile rate less than .30c ?

gone down for most, some companies are starting drivers at .22 cpm to the truck for a team so works out to .11cpm per driver..

I've not heard of anything less than 32 cents typical solo otr position. You can always find rare exceptions, but if you ask me, mileage pay the last 3-5 years has held mostly steady. Seems like many safety/fuel bonuses have been trimmed or eliminated and employee share of health premium pay has been increased. Talk to 10 different drivers, you'll get 10 different responses to such a question.

the "great recession" really has not had so much of an impact on pay/benefits, as it did average-weekley-miles-per-driver in general. There is only a finite amount of freight, and as consumer discretionary income reduces, ultimately so does freight movements. (Assuming there are no wide spread reductions in capacity ... and there rarely are in the trucking industry (no layoffs or attrition))

Lots of companies start people below 30 cpm these days, most of the mega carriers, but they will advertise much more.

For example I make 38 cpm for cre England but one of the people who did thier phase 2 at the same time as me, I ran into him and he makes 28 cpm and he has been there for over 6 months now. Seems like these mega companies will pay you as little as possible.
