Hi, I've been married to my otr trucker husband for ten years. We've been together for 15. He's been a trucker for 2 !/2 years of that time. Anyways, he went to be a trucker to better our family. He has accomplished that. Now we can't afford the lifestyle unless he stays out on the road. I am currently looking for a better job but the pickens are slim. I am beyond ready for him to be back home for good but that's not going to be happening for awhile. Anyways, I think he is feeling under appreciated here lately (because his last few home times have revolved a little more around the kiddos than usual because of the holidays and such). So I am needing ideas of ways to give him a boost. I do ok in taking care of him in a female way, I'm not the best but I keep myself up very nicely and I am very loyal and have never cheated. I need some suggestions. I don't really know what I want to do for him, I am completely stumped. So I want to know some ideas from the men out on the road. I already have the house spotless and favorite meal ready on his arrival but is there anything you guys dream of arriving home to that maybe I'm not thinking of? Keep in mind we have an eight year old son and six year old daughter who are always there when he gets home. I am wanting something a little creative. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

He needs to work a: local truck driving job, frito-lay, multi stop food service delivery. (i would stress the food service delivery, for the first 9 mos, he'll probably loath it, afterwards, he'll be in pretty good shape & think there's nothing better in the world.)

Try this thread : Ladies' Room

Depending on where you live, there's lots of high paying job where he can be home daily or weekends.

He has already signed up to be a shuttle driver for the company he works for, Tyson. But he's kinda on a waiting list. We are also a little worried about the pay cut. I will make it happen no matter what but still a concern because we are barely getting by as it is. We just bought a new house. Very modest, 83,000 but we are spending a little money fixing it up a little, which is going very slowly. Does anyone have any estimates on how much a determined hard working Tyson shuttle driver would make. I Say the adjectives because all we'
ve been told is it varies but you can make good money if you work hard and don't screw around.

There's not a lot of local jobs at the moment. I promise, I look everyday for him. I am very involved in his trucking career. I find him places to park every night. I even got him the current job he has now. I am just needing some ideas for extra encouragement. I feel helpless right now.

Both, Haha...I realize the decision ahead of us. I love the independence he has gained from this career. It's just what he needed at the right time but it's time for him to come home. But until the time comes until all the stars align and he gets to be here on a daily basis I need ideas to keep encouraging him so he doesn't completely flush the career he has worked so hard on down the toilet.

you sound like a great person and a very supportive wife. he is lucky to have you. i would say just keep doing what you are doing, keeping the house up, yourself etc,. tell him how much it means to you that he works so hard to support y'all (not that you dont already) if you guys have been together 15 years, you know how to talk with him, tell him to stay focused and patient and when a local job opens then you guys can discuss if it wil work financially....i know this isnt the answer you are probably wanting...lol sorry

Cuz he is getting close. If he gets screwed one more time it's probably over. I don't say that from a money perspective but from the perspective of he had worked so hard to get to this point so he could have a career in this field and things aren't going the greatest as of lately. So, I would love some insight on what you guys work for. I know he works for his family, but sometimes it doesn't seem enough. Do you guys want a massage, shopping spree, your nails done... Examples from a female perspective (which by the way I don't know such luxuries) but what do you guys need for a renenegize. Maybe I need to start a Trucker's Appreciation Day. For you fellas out there. You guys are under appreciated as it is.
