I drove a truck for 8 years in the 90's and then joined the Army in 2000. I am getting out now after 3 tours in Iraq. Last October I got a speeding ticket for 16 over in my car. This is the only ticket on my MVR. Can anyone tell me any companies that would hire me with that on my MVR? Any advice will be appreciated!!!

Most of them will hire you, -
I think you'll find more of an issue with your time away from the truck. You'll most likely have to go to school before they will hire you. However your speeding ticket is consider as a major offense since it was 15mph over the speed limit. I believe you'll have an impossible chance at the better companies and a good chance at the companies that would put anyone behind the wheel. I'm not saying you're a bad driver only saying what I feel will happen.

Hrm - is the ticket on a CDL, or a regular license? That might make a difference as to the quality of company that might hire.

I don't see a problem with your ticket. By the way, in case no one else says it, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for serving
The ticket is going to be an issue whether it was in a car or truck. It does not matter becuase they consider it as the willing to do so..
Best bet would be to hire an attorney (good one that is local to the court house, try looking for a "former prosecutor") and have the ticket expunged..
It will cost you $250-500 but it will not show on your MVR.. If this is the only ticket you have recieved in awile 3-5 years you will have no issue in having it expunged..
As mentioned 15+ is a major violation and 98% of insurance companies will not even look at you.
Farmers on the other hand are able to hire people at thier own discretion if they have the right group insurance..
Anyways hire an attorney, have the ticket removed (you must do this within 1 year of conviction) and go back to driving a truck.. -

I agree with the reply that the "time off" from driving will be your biggest hurtle. The insurance companies require 6 months to a year of RECENT driving experience in order to insure you. You will basically have to "start all over" with a company that hires "new drivers" and get the experience required by the insurance companies before you can "go anywhere" and hire on with a carrier of your choice.....

Far as the time of goes (sorry for not responding to that part in my last post).. Not suggesting to lie here but simply say that you volunteered for the Motor pool to help out, while there you was driving a tractor TRL becuase most did not know how. Motor pool is always needing help in the military. especially in Iraq as you know, I was there and volunteered a few times..

1st off,,Congrat's on the three Tours,,I myself did 4 tours worth 9 yrs in Iraq-n-Afghanistan,,,There are plenty of companies out there that will reaquire you into a driving position,,You may have to start back at square one and go on the company training program,,you know the one,,6 to 8 weeks with a driver trainer before you can Solo,,BUt the ticket is a question for each recruiter that you contact,,
Keep in touch with me i will assist you as i have networked quite a bit since i retired from the Army,,
