Not only will you need a Canadian CDL; you will most likely need Canadian residence and work permits from Immigration Canada. Americans do not have an automatic right to work in Canada (or vice versa.)

You are aware that the current 'Ice road truckers' show was filmed in Alaska, right? (USA)..........:biggrin_25510:

Since I don't watch the show -- nope. Last I heard, it was filmed in the Yukon (Canada). But hey, if the relevant companies are based in Alaska, then the poster should have no problems.:biggrin_25515:

I know, he inquired about "the ice road". Actually, there's an "ice road" in the Northwest Territories as well as Alaska. The one in Alaska is called The James Dalton highway or the Dalton hwy, running from Fairbanks to Prudoe Bay. That's the one they're currently showcasing on the History channel with Carlisle Trucking.:biggrin_2552:

He also asked about whether he needed a Canadian CDL, which is what led me to think he was talking about driving in Canada. Obviously, you don't need a Canadian CDL in Alaska. :biggrin_25512:

the first season was shot in the yukon. You would need a work visa to drive on the ice roads in canada because you would be working for a canadian company the same as if you went to work for anyother company in canada.Just remember that you can make lots of money doing it but it costs alot toeat up there and most of your pay woulld be spent before you leave and it is a hard way to make money.
