I was stuck in Sioux Falls for 8 days last July and my idle hit 30.7%. I told them I was in Sioux Falls, they said don't fret it.

Now I do know about one guy whose idle percentage was 75%. Fool idled his truck 24/7 while he was on Home time.. He got charged..

Most of Central's company fleet either have the ICON or Opt-Idle system in the truck and they will shutdown even if the system is not engaged. However, there are ways to fool the system. The lease/ops can get APU's In either case it is not hard to keep the idle percentage below 30% and stay comfortable. My idle rarely exceeds 10% and both times it did it was July and August. My idle in August was 22% and I still got a bonus..

There the real story on Central's idle policy..

Holy cow el tus. Go up to the tool bar, bout the middle, and you'll see a search function. Type in transam and you'll find 6 or 7 threads about them. You'll find me all thru out a couple of them, since I worked there.

Marshalltown is like going to hell every load comes out overloaded late and sometimes wrong paperwork. I am sitting in york pa now on a JBS load was suppose to be there last night at 7 according to BOL. Guard says we dont even unload frz on sundays so I wait another wasted 24 hours on a lousy 1000 mile run they gave me 3 days to do it in. I coulda stayed on hometime rather then sit at the diner 34 hours because nearest pilot is 40 miles away

Oddly, I pulled a live load out of Marshalltown last Friday, told to arrive at 800 am. Left at 1030 pm. Oh well, bobtailed to town. Did some shopping. Went to Mexican restaurant. Went back to swift, took a nap. Got 250 dollars in detention. Went back into town to the movie theatre and saw the three stooges. Came back in time to see a shag driver drop a Dekker trailer on the ground. Found my trailer, walked around carefully with a flashlight and got out of town. What a hole. Why would any place want their reputation? Gonna take some 3 dollar Plus rates to get me back there. Oh, po number was wrong. Try getting someone to answer the phone. Now that's entertainment.

Morehouse Truck Line has APU's on all trucks, and is installing IdleFree electric APU's on all new trucks. Electric APU's are great because there's no engine noise.
