I don't think any of the big slaughterhouse ship anything that isn't already broke down. In years gone by, "swingin'" halves were shipped to butcher shops and secondary processors to be reduced to final cuts. These days most of the beef killed by the mega processors never stops once it is killed. Walks in one end of the plant and comes out the other end in a box.

I saw a guy with one at Hunt's Point in August and we pulled some swinging until the plant went through reorganization 3 years ago. I pulled a rental back to KC the last time I hooked one up.
A bulk pallet called a combo is what we use now. There is still some swinging from what I have been told, I see the rails at some receivers when I get unloaded, but most places that further process aren't set up for swinging anymore.
The trailers were a mess and you have to keep track of the hooks, also put them in the front before a washout and reloading.Reefer Madman Thanks this. -
They go into NYC all the time. The truck/tank wash in Jersey City exit 15 washes them out all the time. What a mess that place is!
