Some Sysco DCs are union and some are not. I am guessing the contracts are all through the local union shops if that DC is union. The DC you were at may be union and fighting a contract renewal.

Aren't they like that everywhere? I'm pretty much to the point that I won't go to one anymore. It takes them 5 hours to unload a few pallets.

Sysco may be union but he lumpers aren't that's your problem why it takes 5 hrs to get out of one. lump your own freight and get out quicker plus make extra money and get a good work out.

I have'nt heard any scuttlebutt about a general or local strike at Sysco. I deliver to a lot of Sysco DC's and do the off-load myself. Probably takes a quater of the time the lumpsters do. I have a electric pallet jack that our company provides, because our pallets weigh in at around 1900 lbs. A few of the DC's will let drivers use their power jacks to unload. I deliver the products that our company produces, so my situation is a bit different.
