Has anyone been the victim of fuel or spares being stolen from your truck as the reefer roared on its continuous setting? I've had a spare stolen on fulton ind in atlanta,ga. Also heard of fuel thefts in south carolina.

I had some one suck my one tank dry. they where stupid and got busted. The tank they dried up was a split tank the forward neck was gas for my generator that held 20 gallons of gas. I reported it and about an hour later the police called me and he had broke down because of the gas in the system. I got repaid for the gas plus damages....

100 gallons at the wilco in st. george, sc while I slept with the truck running. Another company truck had 100 stolen same place. Store manager seemed unconcerned and even tried to talk me out of calling the cops and filing a report. Duh I had to refill my tanks from their pumps I guess they wouldn't care. Never will stop there again.

    kenszo47 Thanks this.

I was'nt so lucky carrkool. I wish my co had an allowable pet rule. Even with the reefer roaring away my chi "rosy" would've alerted me. My fuel tanks have no screen to prevent a good size diameter hose from going in and making short work of it. the spare tire was an easy fix cause i have a cable which locks back into itself. I need fuel caps that lock,,,any ideas.

Truckers need to write truck mfgrs and ask for some sort of "rapid deplete alarm". This alarm looks for rapid fuel level decline and monitors whether truck is running or not. A loud audible [exterior horn] alarm sounds as well as a signal is sent to the engine warning system and to a Qualcomm unit that might be on board. And nothing says this same sort of system couldn't be implemented on reefers.

FWIW, such a system would also require a crash detection notice and thereby shut off any fuel loss alarm, and also, a theft alarm would have to time out after a few minutes.

most trucks have a locking cap option, just talk to your dealer. spare tires are another problem !! we lost 10,000.00 in spare tires on our trailers.... we stopped carrying them ! but all trucks have a locking cap available..... u can try NAPA or O'reiley auto parts they have a heavy equip. side also

My '13 cascadia doesn't. Straight shot to the bottom of the tank through a hole as big as my ex wife's mouth lol

The Volvo I was driving prior that had the fuel stolen out of it got locking caps by the next week. Gotta find something for the cascadia I just got. Would be real easy to drain these quick.

Locking caps are easily defeatable with a "filter wrench type device" on a large cheater pipe, and would probably not awaken some really sound sleepers. And the anti-siphon screen works pretty good until somebody wants your fuel and knows no one is around and they go ahead and punture through with a steel rod, thereby rendering the devices forever useless.
