Does anyone make a wireless remote temp gauge that will fit in my KW dash so I can monitor the temp in the trailer?

I have heard of them but have never seen one. They would definitely come in handy.

You don't have a wire remote on the trailer where you can use your mirror? Is this an older unit?

TK has a wireless option that will email or text in case of an event. It has options of temp sensors, door sensors and fuel sensors.

That would be pretty cool your trailer sending you a text. Hey get out of the truck and come back here! :)

A cheap out you could use something like this. RF should pass through walls.

I posted a question asking if it would work in this application. Maybe they'll answer tomorrow. Satellite dishes use RF remotes and they'll pass through walls. It has a 100' range.

Yes it is slightly on the older side.....a 1995 Great Dane with a TK unit.

Brilliant. Here I am at home, with two wireless weather stations, one in my office and another in the living room. Two outdoor sensors, one shaded under the deck and another inside my storage shed in the back yard. Another indoors in the basement hallway. It never occurred to me to set one of these things up in my truck!

The one in my office is picking up all three. My house is wood frame with hardiplank (fiber cement) siding. The shed sensor is about 70' away and the two exterior walls and about three interior walls are in the middle. The basement sensor is about 50' away and downstairs. So through about the same number of interior walls, plus the floor. It might just work despite the metal cab and trailer siding.

Next time I visit Fry's, I'm picking one up to try it on the truck!

Now that's a good idea, using the weather stations. Then you'd get a humidity reading as well, which might be useful info on some produce loads. I was contemplating rolling my own with an Arduino and some odds and ends. Still might since I want it to text me if I'm away from the truck.

I thought about that because they use them in greenhouses. The question is how far will the signal travel through them walls? That guy did answer my question asking if it would work in this situation.

So it's a gamble but it's inexpensive. All you have is maybe 20 feet at most.

Let me know if it works. We'll start marketing them! :)

Just bought an Acurite indoor/outdoor thermo with humidity and signal strength indicator. I bought it at Lowes for $20.00 plus batteries. I just put remote sensor in the back of trailer and didn't lose any bars when I put main unit in cab. I couldn't run unit, trailer in shop for brakes. I'll report back in a few days when I can run unit, 158 to -40 F and 165 foot range.
