J B Garrett from Nashville, TN
Trying to find out if anyone out there knew my dad. He started out in the shop for Ryder (not the rental truck place) and then began driving. Ryder changed names to Ryder/P.I.E. and he was still working for them. Eventually, Ryder/P.I.E. went out of business and he started driving for Roadway (Big R) pulling pups from Houston, TX to Brownsville, TX. He started with Ryder in Nashville, then we were transferred to Cincinnati, OH (where he worked from the Springdale terminal), then to Knoxville, then back to B'ham Alabama. He was a member of the Teamsters union and was a huge advocate, even being a Steward for awhile and filing grievances like crazy. His CB handle was always Dirty Old Man. He was a big man, about 6 foot, 280 pounds, tough as nails, would whoop anyone's ###. Wife's (my mom's) name was Shirley, had three kids, Buck, Wayne (me) and Tammy. If anyone knew my dad, would love to get in touch with you. He passed July 3, 2002 from complications of corarted artery surgery. He was buried in Gardendale, AL.
