Company located in Somerset KY has a huge saftey problem and I wanted to relay it. They hire mostly in KY but also hire drivers from WV, VA, Southern OH, and IN. They have had 3 fatality accidents, 6 injury, and 16 others that required a tow in the last 24 months. They only have like 80-100 trucks at any given time.

This is the safer site on them: notice how 21.5% of the trucks are out of service and standards in inspections:
    http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.as...apshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=1054001

The information about the fatalities and injury accidents have not been updated yet to reflect the newest one. It is on the safe stat site: 3 FATALITIES ACCIDENTS IN THE REPORT!!!!!
    http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SafeStat/AccidentSEA.asp?ais=&dot=1054001&WhichForm=

Company holds three weeks back in wages then pays weekly so you have 18-3600 on the books all the time as an escrow/floating bond. This is the type of company the new laws is meant to shut down.

    JustSonny Thanks this.

I received a phone call from Coretrans saying they were interested in hiring me. So I told them what I needed for home time so I could have visitation with my children. The lady on the phone said that wouldn't be a problem but she wanted to check out my employment history and would call me back in a day or two.
About a week pasted and I received a phone call from another lady at Coretrans and she said she saw my app and was wondering if I still was looking for work still. I told her yes and also told her what I needed for home time for visitation with my children and she said that wouldn't be a problem as well.
Long story short. I got to orientation and on the second day I was there they were like... is there anyway you could change your home time or could you work with you ex wife to change the times.
Me and my Ex have had a bitter divorce and my visitation times are strict as I explained to Coretrans before I went down to Somerset for orientation. I guess Coretrans is trying to get drivers in there and tell them anything they want to hear so they can trick them into working for them.
So after all this I told them I couldn't work for them and they said OK. I was also told that someone would be there about 6-7pm to take me back home.
So around 6-7pm I saw the truck that was suppose to take me home but the driver wasn't in it. So I went in to the shop and asked the manager about it and she said I told them in the office he wouldn't be ready to take you home in tell 7 AM not 7pm
I said fine, put me in a hotel tell the morning.
She then told me no you go sleep in the drivers lounge.
Another driver who works for Coretrans heard that and was like I will take him home.
Then the manager was like No you don't have to do all that I will get him a hotel room and right as soon as he started walking away the manager said "you can sleep in one of those empty trucks over there"
That driver turned around and said again I will take him home.
One hour later the driver drove me home in his personal vehicle all the way from Somerset.
So anyone thinking about working at Coretrans be warned!
If they do stuff like this to me chances are they have done this to someone else.

I have worked there for several years in the past, as a driver and in the office so i know the the in's and out's for this company, 1> drivers are not respected there at all, they DONT care about the drivers nor the drivers family's if it has anything to do with loosing the revenue for the company i asure you it will go the companys way, they say in there averetizments your home on weekends, yes you are most weekends but for how long? 8 hours to 24hours maybe, what ever acomidateds them for there loads having to be covered, Mike Whitaker the owner of the company is a good man to work for, but since his son Brian Whitaker has got involved with the company when it became coretrans from eagle, it has went to the dump's, he HASN'T got the managment skills to run this company like his father did, nor the patience. i have seen him curse drivers and office employee's many times, talk good to a driver in front of there face then after they leave talk trash about them like there nothing, Ive seen many good driver come and go, over the company not being orginized as they should be, they have some good office employee's working there but there usaully like a puppit on a string, having to do what the opps manager or brian is telling to do, if a driver has a blow out or a mud flap to come off they have been charged for this in the past to come out of there pay, i could go on and on with this company but i think i said enough,

I started with this company back when they went under the name of Eagle Carriers. We drivers called them buzzard carriers lol. Eagle went bankrupt about 6 months after I left, and soon came back under the name Coretrans. When this company first started out they were one of the best places one could driver for. By the time I drove for them it had gone downhill considerably. Sounds like nothing has changed lol. Btw they still owe me $80.00. Lets see, $80.00 plus 9.5 years of interest. Maybe I should stop by and see them lol.

My experience at CoreTrans or TransCore... or whatever they are calling themselves this week... Was awful...Equipment that needed repair of some kind always...trailers...most of them should be on the retirment lot. Miles were low...I had a hard time breaking 2000mi in any given week.
