You can go to YouTube and do searches for this sort of thing, truckmovers search will bring up training videos
There are company drivers, most seem to union like the Iron tigers, auto truck transport driveaway, Active to name a few.

Insurance is usually provided by the carrier and deducted from your pay. It's their way of making sure drivers have it, see.

You get dirty cause its a dirty job. Grease, dirt, sweat, grime, tools. I assume your aware of blue collar jobs.

I would upload some pics but site will not let me.

    I'm out of time.

LOL i get "blue collar " jobs, and the dirt that goes with them -thats all i have ever done.
I assume you mean there is some kind of connecting, attaching and so forth that goes with the job, and not just jumping in an truck, RV whatever and driving it to the receiver.
Going to check out you tube to see what it involves. I just wasn't exactly sure what the business entailed. Thanks driverkc

Google drive away and you should get plenty. find one that has a hub close to your home, so you can easily return home AND get reloaded.

the so dirty comes from axle grease on the decking drivers. I've been told you can't avoid it.

occupational ins is mandatory and we have to pay for it.

all companies make you keep 1500 or more in an escrow account to cover the deductable. they will keep that if you damage one of there trucks. you build that up by them withholding 10% of your pay. I've not been in an accident so I cannot speak to that process.

the damage policy is insane. they make us liable for any road hazards damage. as far as I know they are all the same. as I stated before, you can easily lose you ### doing this job. there are many pitfalls. I hooked up with people I was compatible with and they were kind enough to teach me some of the ropes.

I'm glad you have a since of humor Hang Man cause I was laying on the sarcasm. Worse than getting dirty, you ruin everything you wear. Shoes and boots jeans shirts coats climbing around and under these trucks. Axle oil and fifth wheel grease. If the drivers you see appear dirty, its because they got tired of ruining new clothes. Hell I ruined a new set of jeans and a Mack shirt by rubbing up against some battery acid I didn't see on brand new trucks.. $70 down the drain.

I see where you can get dirty now, i watched some of the videos from "Truck movers" -"deck load".
Very interesting, must be part mechanic to do the job. Pulling axles, releasing brakes - looks like it could get messy even on brand new trucks just like you said.
I didn't realize you drivers, or those that do the "drive away" thing had to attache the tractors together.
I assume you are picking up the tractors at dealers in most cases and it would be to easy for the dealers and their mechanics to have them "Decked" together before the driver gets there. LOL go figure.

It is insane, indeed. TM will barrage you with what the drivers refer to as "false claims". I got dinged once for something I missed on an inspection, it only cost me $80. All in all the experience I had with TM was fair. When I quit and turned in my plates I received my $1500 back before I left the building.

Now the union side of the company didn't have to worry about claims because of the fact that they were company employees.

In our case at TM, we pick up the trucks near the factory already decked and ready to go. We would undeck them at the dealerships upon delivery. That video you saw was primarily for the guys on the used truck side. They are required to deck their own truck in most if not all cases.

They make you 1099 so that they dont have to deal with the IRS and you have to pay your own taxes and provide your own insurance. The company provides the insurance for the vehicles your moving.

I dont know if they hire inexperienced drivers or not. I would say probably not less than a year experience.

Guys, I need your inputs to help me decide whether I want to jump in the driveaway business. I am an owner operator that hauls cement, but spend around $15k a year in maintenance and repairs due to the heavy tear and wear on the truck that comes with the kind of job i do, anyway, there is a truckmovers terminal here in my home town so I applied online, got processed and supposed to go out for first time in mid december. Currently I bring between $1700 and $2500 a week after truck and fuel expenses but thats between april and december each year, from january to april I bring between $200 and $1000 a week if I am lucky. Do you guys think that I can bring between $1400 and $2000 a week doing driveaway jobs, I have a tow car and I am building a universal hitch just like the ones on truckmovers video, I dont mind sleeping in the car and eat out of ravioli cans and or dollar menu on fast food...is it possible make a good living and be home on the weeekends?? Help guys

YOU HAVE BEEN STARVED OUT!!!!! Truck Movers does not care about lawsuits, but it will get there attn. The owner of truck movers is a theif, you would be shocked to see what he charges his customers.good deck drivers are hard to find at best, but good money can be made in vehicle transport.Dispute the termination on dac, this will make company explain there actions or change to layoff.takes less than a month to complete
