MVT is on alot of race cars. The owners have been involved for years in racing and actually own the track in Las Cruces. Their kids are racing now also and MVT sponsors them. Just an FYI

Anybody has some idea why MVT is shying away from direct drive transmissions? I plan to buy a new very fuel efficient truck, and seems they are doing fine with their spec, but recently they changed their rear ratio from 2.5 to 3.36 on the new trucks, which means, they use OD tranny now. Did they learnt some back side of the direct drive?
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It may lay in the fact that direct drive is most fuel efficient at 55-58 and there trucks seem to go faster then that. Just a guess though.

It was true, before Meritor come out with this 2.5 ratio. At the end of this year Eaton will come out with the same ratio too. Now a direct drive tranny, 22.5 tires and the 2.5 ratio at 62 do about 1260 RPM. What I suspect, maybe the very fast rear ratio cause extra vibration, what can open a can of worms for this 2% fuel saving. (Although the new DANA alluminum drive shaft can help)....I am just working on the specification of my next truck and try to be smart, but not smart ###.

What was MVT doing with all of those trucks running around Phoenix with concrete blocks on flatbeds? I noticed they had some weird contraption attached to the drive axle.

EVERYONE knows you do not have to speak English to get a cdl. I watched a career at Arizona DPS get destroyed because the officer insisted that truck drivers be able to communicate with him.
My Sheriff Joe Arapio is being sued because he wants to enforce federal immigration law.

Go ahead and lie to us about "the law saying you need to speak English"...

Perhaps you can explain this, its from the state of Arizona Dept of Transportation Driver License Division -

What transmission are they using with the 3.36. Is it still a 10 speed or are they using the convertible 9 speed? If the latter, that would be a way to make their trucks a bit more valuable at resale, just convert it to a 13 speed. Their setup with a 13 speed would be really efficent.

In the 57 mph days, Swift used to spec direct 10 speeds with 3.36 rear ends. I remember Frieghtliner offered to swap a 13 speed in on the SelectTrucks used models because unless you never left California, nobody would want that original drivetrain, lol!

I was wondering if they use automatic transmission trucks or have they gone back to manual transmission trucks? I was also contemplating going to work for them, any advise as to whether or not it's a good Idea to even bother with them ? I've been out of trucking for a while now and I'm trying to get back into it. I know I'm going to have to work my way back but just wondering if this is a decent company to work for. I understand that "beggars can't be choosers".

They swithced back to manual just after a year.
They still use 10 speed tranny with the 3.36 ratio, but the over drive version. Other way I do not know anything about the company, other than that, they are very serious about fuel economy, and they have the money and number of equipments to make experiments. I do not, but I really want to have the best possible fuel economy.
