    midwest continental horrible

    i have a buddy who asked me to put this on here for many reasons. my buddy has been driving for midwest continental for almost 2 years getting 28 cpm with 11 yrs of ecperience, during that time he has had 3 different trucks. all of them when he got in them had over 800,000 miles. the first one he had was an old peterbilt which didnt last long before the engine blew on him. then they put him in a 2004 kw t-600 which had over 820,000 miles on it. it didnt last long before that engine went to **** on him, when it did they made him sit out in new york for almost 3 weeks waiting for parts. then after that was fixed and summer started his a.c went out on him, he had a dog in the truck and he had 3 fans running just to keep him cool. they refused to get him to the yard to get the a.c fixed, he went 3 months without ac in the truck. finally it got to the point when he said he wouldnt deliver the load until they got his a.c fixed. when they were fixing it he had symptoms of heat exaustion. 2 days later with a $1600 bill, he went on his way. the next day he shut off his a.c for 1 hour and when he turned it back on hot air came out. so when he got his home time he said he wasnt going back out on the road until they got it fixed, so they routed him through the yard. and they started looking at the truck the mechanics said that his truck was beyond repair. he had a radiator leak, exhaust leak, they had to replace all of the wiring in his truck, they had to basicically overhaul the engine, when he got out of that truck it had 985,??? miles on it. so they gave him another kw t-600 with 885,000 miles on it and he hasnt had any problems with it yet. WARNING: if you like a.c and a truck that runs good, and like home time, and you want to get things fixed on your truck when they break. do not, i repeat do not drive for midwest continental.

    Anything else like the pay what do they pay for like detention, breakdown is that real $.28 a mile?!?!? ROFLMAO Where are they located and anything else would help!

    layover is 50$ a day....pay is between 27. to 32 cents pm an there located in Sioux city Iowa there equipment is good for ****

    They use to hire ex-felons, maybe that's a plus. Not sure if they still do.

    this appears to be a 'he said/she said' situation. you know nothing about this company other than what 'your friend' told you? i know quite a few people that have worked for midwest for 10, 20, 30+ years and i hear no negative feedback. actually all these drivers stay at midwest because it is a family owned company and they are a name and not a 'truck #'. nobody is perfect and the guy mentioned above may have had some problems but i dont think its right that you badmouth the entire company when you didnt even work for them. seems like you discovered this site for 'something to do' for a couple months.. and why is this the ONLY bad post about midwest if its such a bad company?

    I know from experiance this company is sh**. They have old equiptment most with 700k miles+. I have worked for them and all I can say is pay is lower than deserved, miles are low due to truck always being in the shop mine had close to 1 mil. Miles on it when I started. I sit constantly and wait for loads. During the time I am broke down I have never got layover pay as promised. Not to mention Due to low miles and this peice they call a truck never even a paycheck. If you like working for free than this company is fir you. I am so glad I quit.

    Why would anyone with more than 5 minutes of driving over the road go to work for a company that pays between .27-.32 a mile???? That's no money.

    Amen! I can understand coming out of a school and having to do a year at a training company but if guys still go to these companies, they'll still pay it.

    I worked for them in 2013 , for 4 months , my highest check was about 500 bucks for a 3600 mile week . they MAKE you buy , your own orgintation cost, pay for your own DOT physical , hotel etc .
    plus a 1000 dollar ecrow account . . PLUS 500 bucks of truck equitment which comes out of you check . (chains , oil, etc. ) that you MUST sign to pay for.. all together your over about 2000 grand in the hole when you start driving. .. The truck I had ( one of the nicer ones , still wouldn't pass a DOT road side. . paper logs , no Quacom. and , some of the loads were , too hot or fast , .. plus I got snow in twice, by interstate closers , in wy, . but it was still my fault I was behind,, ( like I was surpose to broke thur the gates on the interstates ... I worked , basicly for 200 bucks a week on 3000 mile weeks ,,, all this sounds too horriable to be ture , but trust me .. ii is ...

    as to that guys statement of them having 20 year drivers ... yes , I meet about 3 that had been there over 10 years ,,, they were payed the same milage rate , .32 ( before the roughly 250 dollars of deduction I had being taken out ) and they were basicly on set runs, .. staying for the hometime they were getting . ( and no longer had the deductions coming out)
