This is what Stevens Transport did NOT tell me before heading to their school to drop off my application. They will want to see your tax returns for the past three years and you have to have made at least 10,000 dollars each of those years.

That's all fine and well but remember...Stevens DID NOT TELL ME BEFORE I LEFT!!!!!! For THAT there is NO EXCUSE. So all of you guys and gals that may be getting ready to head to Stevens Transport...take your filings with you for the past three years or they will tell you what they told me...we can't do anything for you until we have your returns.

    venne Thanks this.

Imagine that. You sign an agreement for a loan, and they actually expect you to honor the agreement. WOW, how unfair of them.

I find it hard to believe that they failed to tell you this basic requirement, when they seem to tell everyone else.
However, you seem to make a big deal about this. Aren't you the one that lives in Plano? Less than a commuter's distance from Stevens?

They didn't tell me about it until about a week into the process. I explained that I was self employed and asked if I could just give 1099's to prove it. They said okay so I did this but then they told me they needed tax returns too. I did that and then they told me they couldn't accept them because they were done by hand (I do my own taxes - they previously did not mention this being an issue). So then they wanted me to arrange to have tax transcripts faxed directly from the IRS (from what I understand this is a gray area as technically the IRS wants to send them directly to you only). Right around that time was when they told me about the income requirement -- after going back and forth with them a couple times already.

So I believe that they didn't tell him this right away. Definitely. But I think he is saying that he only went in person to drop off his application and didn't know this. Not that he was already accepted to the school and beginning training. Unless I misunderstand?

FWIW, I was also very concerned about the BMI and sleep study thing. I brought it up to my recruiter and I quote "No problem", but from what I was reading here most others were saying it would be a problem. Then they lost my application and that was enough for me to decide "Hey, I think I should walk away from this." Just the facts here. I have no axe to grind with them. As of June/July in my opinion there were severe communication problems in the application/training qualifying process.

Also I will mention that when I applied with Schneider National in 2007 my 1099s and a couple (hand prepared) tax returns were more than enough. But that was in 2007 and perhaps things have changed.

Nothing wrong honoring an agreement. It's called indentured servitude. A loan agreement that you can't take with you or have it mailed or e-mailed to you so an attorney can review it? Something wrong there. IMHO

So why won't they let you have an attorney look at it? If it is a legal document they should have no problem?

Why not tell the world? Freedom of express is still allowed? If an attorney tells you not to sign it there must be some good reasons? Makes you wonder what they are really hiding?
