I was with Stevens for a year and then figured out for what the lease payment was I could finance my own brand new truck with warranty and drive for a decent company making double the money. Stevens, Prime, CR and others are not good lease programs. The only one that I have researched that I would recommend would be LCT. And at the end of their lease you own the truck. Use Stevens for training, drive for them for 12 months and then get out into the real world.

Stanko, how do you budget for maintenance on the truck?

I understand that the lease program isn't perfect and that the payments are pretty high. However , for someone with limited experience and limited credit history, it does give one an opportunity to make more than a beginning company driver and at the same time get some hands on experience as how to run your own business as a lease/owner operator. I have looked into the bank financing and learned that for what you lease a truck for, you could BUY a Truck in the $50,000 range, finance it for 30 months, and have the same payment- then after the 30 months the truck is the drivers'. Again though, for someone with limited experience, it is an opportunity to learn and get experience. Not that bad a deal in my eyes.
What kind of truck did you buy? Who you leased onto? I hope you're doing well and having fun! Drive Safe! -
A T600, hauling regional flatbed. I am the biggest fan of the Stevens training program, just not as a long term option for making decent money and having any kind of home life. Good luck to ya and go with the best option for your situation. Oh, woke up to a blanket of snow in Sioux Falls this morning, YEHAA!

Easy formula: $0.40x miles. $0.40 is what you can make a mile after all deductions and fuel. Provided you have good mpgs. It can vary from $0.30 for bad drivers to $0.48 that's about highest cpm I've seen so far. I'm not that good.
1800W power inverter comes with APU. For those without APU, they can get Stevens install for them their own up to 1000W.
Well I was running 1500W just didn't tell anyone In fact, it's for sale. Anyone interested?
You can get regular dish and set it up everytime you want to watch. How much is tha or how much are monthly fees I can't tell.

Watching all my shows on hulu on my laptop almost everywhere. Getting internet tethered to my windows mobile phone with unlimited data. -

I just hope I can get my experience and leave for something closer to home before I reach that point of no return. -
I recently received my CDL a month ago and have a pre-hire from Stevens with an orientation in January which I am trying to move up. Does anyone have any advice on how to get that date moved up quicker and what to expect in orientation. From what I heard they have an 8 week training program and then after that you get a truck. Are you allowed to take the truck home with you even though your a company driver? Any advice would be helpful.

Your numbers are consistent with the settlement numbers I was told by an OO who has worked for stevens for over 5 years now. He said he wished he had found out that OO's made that much alot sooner then he did. I'm considering purchasing a truck from Stevens. The thing is. This Alliance business is not as easy as some people would have you believe. When you are solo you have to run hard and really hammer it each and every week . Take time off and you go right in the hole. Every mistake you make just ends up costing you money. Don't get me wrong. I've learned alot about the trucking business. Driving for Stevens has become "The job I love to hate", especially with all the #### that gets hurled your way from all sides. I'm going to see how being a Stevens Trainer works out over the next few months. I'm currently on my 3rd student. So far its been working really well. I'm getting alot more miles and I'm putting money in the bank. Keep me posted on your progress. Sounds like OO may be the way to go after all.
