I would agree with your point but there is another post on here that has 6700 posts to the contrary. I was there I lived it. They sucked!AND before you say I couldn't handle it this is the first company in 21 years of driving I had any kind of issues with.I was a Mentor there and couldn't get over 1600 miles a week when I had a trainee. I went home every 8 weeks.

I have been with them going on two years have had a good check from day 1 to today....But i am not one to complain and gripe when i have to take a crappy load they have done right by me and broke me a nice load there after...I also understand that sometimes out here things just don't go your way...JBS has worked with me in situations and compensated me for things they didn't have to but to keep me happy...That goes a long way with me...It is an otr job it isnt get you home weekly gig i stay out 4-8 weeks at a time Just got a new dispatcher and this guy has been great so far already knows my phone # and calls me by name...These drivers that complain about jbs i honestly don't think they have worked for an awful company...Maybe they were getting crap runs and weren't making money the only plant i have ever sat at on a consistent basis is marshalltown when they have 300 trailers on the yard and sometimes you might have to burn the midnight oil....If you sit and refuse to run the frieght because you can't understand that picking up fresh meat orders isnt an exact science you might want to find a dry van company with plenty of drop n hook..But for me personally i have been happy with jbs from day 1 to today and hope to grow with them and be a part of something that can be very special...

October 1, 2012 I will be 56 years old. I have never driven a truck. I hope one day to learn.

I currently work as a retail clerk. I have been doing so since April 17, 2007. I am trying to stick it out till April 17, 2017 to make the 10 year employment history to put on an application, providing that I do not get terminated or laid off.

Several months ago, perhaps longer, I called JBS recruiting. Jeff Moody answered the phone and answered a lot of my questions. He was quite pleasant. Shortly afterwards, I received medical results that my blood pressure was high. I never filled out an application with JBS, knowing that I would NOT pass the physical. As stated below in this message, I am trying very hard to get my blood pressure and sugar levels down to acceptable levels, not only for my own health and well being, but to also comply with D.O.T. standards, which I understand are getting more stringent.

I had been living in Wichita KS from 8/23/1996 to 10/9/2006, before returning to my home state of Connecticut to help my 2 sisters care for our elderly mother. She passed away September 30th. 2007. I remained in Connecticut till January 2009 helping my 2 sisters settle our deceased parents estate. I eventually returned to Wichita KS January 14, 2009.

In the mean time, I am using the waiting time to get my body into much better physical shape. I have already lost about 30 lbs. I have about another 15 to 20 lbs. to go. I am also working on other things as really trying to get my blood pressure down to decent levels without the use of medications. I have yet to take any.

I am trying to make sure that my sugar levels are really in check. I am trying to avoid diabetes. It does run in my family, along with heart disease and cancer. Before my mother passed away, she was on 4 shots of insulin a day. She also had 3 major open heart surgeries in a 13 year period.

I am slowly, but surly, changing a lot of my eating eating habits. It can be difficult, but NOT impossible. I also realize that stringent D.O.T. health and fitness standards must be met.

I have never been arrested or convicted of any felonies or misdemeanors at all. As years go by, I try very hard to be careful who I associate with, along with staying out of trouble as much as possible.

I do have parking tickets, speeding tickets, failure to yield right of way, and passing a school bus with red flashing lights on my record. My last ticket was back in 2007. My last accident was back in 2010. The driver ran a stop sign right into me. I was not at fault on this particular accident. However, there have been 2 prior accidents that I was at fault. One was back in 1995, the other was around 2000, not sure of exact date.

I have been diligently trying to clean up my credit record. I have been steadily paying off every bill and debt that I ever owed. I am also going over my credit report to make sure everything is accurate and up to date. I am seriously trying to get all my personal affairs in order.

I have never married, and have never fathered any children. I went back to make absolutely sure about this to avoid having to worry about any child support payments and wage garnishments. KNOCK ON WOOD, none should ever occur.

I have never smoked or taken drugs. What little drinking that I ever did, I gave up many years ago. If I do go to a bar with some people, I will only order a soda or juice. I have never had a DUI or a DWI. The risks and penalties are too much to bear.

I am hoping to be able to get off the ground in the next several years to become an over the road truck driver, PREFERABLY SOLO.

I have no close family ties in the Midwest. Both of my 2 sisters live about 1500 miles away from me, one in Connecticut, the other in New York. As mentioned earlier, both of my parents are deceased, along with all 4 of my grandparents. I only have 1 aunt and 1 uncle left, ages 87 and 92 respectively. I also have a few cousins left. Unfortunately, so many of my relatives have passed away.

As a possible potential truck driver, I do not have the stresses of having to worry about family issues if I am far away from home.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, therefore, do not have to worry about maintaining a house or the yard that goes with it.

Many recruiters and truck drivers alike have told me that it is extremely important to have a clear head and try to be as stress free as possible if I do eventually go into truck driving, that a truck driver must have all their concentration and energies on both their driving and getting to their destinations both safely and on time.

I realize that there is an incredible amount of regulations from the federal government that must be followed to avoid losing ones CDL license and/or getting fired from the trucking company that a driver works for.

This is why I am currently doing a lot of the things that I am doing, not only for my own health, safety and well being, but too also to prepare to start complying with regulations that a truck driver must comply with.

I second that I was with a trainer for six weeks supporting his family while he watched movies in the back I drove 15000 miles in 6 weeks which made him 5690 dollars while I was making 200 a week with a wife and kids at home that ain't nothing I finally got my own truck which had all it's shelves cut out by the previous operator I I had to have the truck jumped to get it to start the first time and the mechanic put the jumper cables on backwards so after the smoke cleared it started anyway I had to put in the shop right away the storage boxes under the steps wouldn't stay closed I was off on my first run I got into Nebraska in a rain storm and my wipers stopped working after dealing with that through two states I got into Illinois and the truck broke down so I call breakdown and Karen answers she starts arguing with me on my location I'm standing in the pouring rain trying to give her an exact address I tripped on a curb and I cursed with her on the phone she hung up on me and called my DM and told him I cursed at her after sitting overnight at a mechanic shop my load was relayed and being 100 miles from home I asked to get routed by my house like we were all promised in orientation I was out for 6 weeks supporting somone elses family I hadn't seen my kids even though my trainer went home almost every week while I got to sit at a hotel one time for four days any they refused to route me towards my house until they realized I was only a hundred miles away so after hometime I took my truck to the greenbay terminal where the mechanic foremen had to go to bat for me so they didn't charge me for the shelves being cut out so two weeks of running short loads and my trucks stop engine light flashing in my truck I quit and haven't received a single pay check from them anyone who doesn't believe me I'll show you my bank statement the only money my account saw was 81 dollars and I ran several thousand miles I'm hiring a lawyer so please stay away from this horrible company students especially there's more then just me this has happened too

The lawyer thing won't work many have tried many have failed. Just bear in mind they have an unlimited warchest. We have all been there at one time or another just chalk it up as a loss and move on, Just some friendly advice, I trained a few people at JBS I know what you went through. While you were with a trainer did you express your concerns to management?
