i ve been with this sh## hole company ( Gardner ) for 4 years now . i am a local driver .. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY !!!! about 90 day in my self and a hand full of driver received a notice in our pay envelope. its stated we where put on the wrong pay package ( on higher pay ) .the new pay package will take affect the next pay date .well it didn't happen for about 3 months later (on lower pay ). i get pay by the load . from then its been down hill . if your not a GARDNER BROWN NOSIER . THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT YOU..i only make $33,000 a year the last 3 years. they want you to work for free moving trailer .doing flat bed for the same pay as a dry van . no trapping pay .or if someone pick up your load and dropped it in the chino (ontario ) yard .they will get $40.00 and when you deliver it you will get $40.00 local like 50 miles . or $50.00 to like Bakersfield ca. even if the load pays $115.00.thats if you get payed they like to play games with your pay .you need to check you pay EVERY PAY DAY .and if you dont . they get mad at you for asking for you money that you worked for ..... this company is very unorganized .one manager 1 will tell you one thing . and a different manager 2 will tell you something different. and a different manager 3 will tell you something totally different..they want you to carrier there phone / 2 way radio if your lucky to get a radio from them .. all the time but the phone is not working ..SO DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY They will start you at the bottom $35.00 local loads that you pick up ..

Let me add fuel to this fire -- I personally would not recommend to work for gardner trucking --- like everyone says you will not make any money here I was barley making ends meet with the amount of money i was making. they do no pay you for dead haul and almost every time I would have to spend around 1 to 2 hours looking for a empty trailer to pick up a load. Once again I defiantly would not recommend to work for this COMPANY!!!!!!

Ok, ill bite. I've never actually worked for Gardner. I have delivered there. Oh man, the receiver inside that dispatch office has to be one of the rudest persons I have dealt with, and I have dealt with people all over the country. He must've weighed 500lbs. He rejected my load after me not knowing the rules and not being able to follow proper instruction on their property. I said ok. I called dispatch, took the load to a drop yard and kept rolling on something else.
Here's a little description on what I saw at that facility in Fontana CA.
.
Drivers wore uniforms. Looked like mechanics uniforms. Most drivers spoke no english and some of them were wearing different colored bandannas on their heads. I stood there in the dispatch office and felt some drivers were starring me down, making comments. Sort of poking fun. I don't really know why. To me most of those guys were shorter than me anyway. Maybe I was looking tall that day I don't know.
Their equipment was very nice. Very clean. Im talking kenworth and peterbilts, some Volvo and some cab overs. -

i am actually in the hiring process right now and really hoping i can make a good run at it for a year or so. i really need the job and i am just getting into the trucking industry and not able to go OTR. they are hiring me in washington state to run lumber out of tacoma. sounds like they are paying 15.00 an hour with benefits , paid holidays , and paid vacation. how bad can it be ? i have worked union trades for over 15 years and have never had paid anything except my paycheck and only that when i was actually getting some work.
