    CRST 8 month contract...worth breaching?

I recently started driving for CRST under the 8 month contract agreement, where they will pay for the truck school in return for working for them at least 8 months. Has anyone breached or know anyone that has breached the contract? I need to know what to expect if I "pull-the-plug". The miles so far have been pitiful, to say the least, and I have the chance to start driving locally for a company that gives you decent miles.
    Thanks for any replies!

They are going to make you pay back the full cost of the school $3,300. Not sure if they will ding your DAC or not.

    Decision Time

The Wolf is right, they have you by the short hairs. If you depart, your bill will most likely be turned over to a collection company. You start making payments, or they will go for a court judgement in many cases. A court judgement can kill your future credit. A judgement can also lead to mandatory garnishment of your wages.
You have to do the math. Can I make enough money off of that local job to pay my bills and also pay off what is essentially a loan? Or maybe Uncle Bob can lend you the money!

I'd try and solve the miles issue with them before "pulling the plug". I've heard of some horror stories about the DAC stuff, nothing I'd care to mess around with. How long into the 8-months are you?

I am with Gears on this. Talk to your FM and try to get the miles resolved if he/she does not step up to the plate then go above their head to their manager. Most of the time if you show the FM's that you are not afraid to go above them they will not screw with you. I had to do it with mine when I first started with the company I have been here 4 years now and still have the same FM. Got to say he has been great since we came to terms. Either that or they got tired of me calling everyday more than once til I was running...Lol. I run pretty good miles, the truck usually averages atleast 6000 a week. If you decide to break your contract you will have to foot the bill for your school. Also remember that they hold your diploma from the school which means if the local company you are thinking about is blowing smoke up the wazoo or you decide it's not for you, you cannot go to another company. Unless you want to go through school and the hoops all over again....Best of luck to you

Even if they can you before your contract is fulfilled, you get to pay the full amount, from reading the contract when my wife was taken to court by them.

You can go elsewhere if they will hire you, but they will take you to court and they will be represented by a law firm.

If you leave they will go after you for the money and they do hold your diploma but 8 months has got to be the shortest contract out there so you decide if its worth it!

I was under there contract, I quit after one week. They immediately sent it to a collection person. She was cold and every time I mentioned my attorney's advise, she told me that they have been winning these cases in court. They sent a letter to the local company that they were going to sue them for hiring me. They said that they would sue me if I continued to drive while I was under contract with them. They sent me an offer to pay half the amount and I paid them in full.
