Osborn is what you make of it. Like any company learn the rules for that company and remind the dispatchers of them when they wish you to do something outside of the rules. Remember they cannot make you break the law only encourage you to do so. I drove for Osborn for 5 years and would go back if I ever become unhappy with where I am now.

If you like driving junk and having to do your own repair work while broke down, Osborn is the place for you. I worked there about three years ago and only lasted three weeks. I quit after my truck broke down for the third time and they wouldn't give me anything better to drive.

I don t see how Osborn is still in business. Just take a drive by their terminal in Rainbow City AL off highway 77. You would think its a junkyard with all the old trucks and trailers on both sides of the highway. You talk to most of their drivers on the CB or at Petro in Gadsden, none of them are happy

A few quick questions for present or past Osborn drivers. Are you allowed to take the truck home at Osborn for time off, or if you are going close by the house can you take your 10 hr break at home. Also, can you idle when necessary to stay cool or warm.

As a former driver - They didnt want us to take it home - Idleing for comfort - not a prob but might hurt a bonus / if take home and truck breaks down (wont start etcc...) they pitch a fit and might expect you to foot the bill

I am in the process of getting hired at the Union City terminal of Osborn. It is a small satellite terminal with a Terminal Manager and a dispatcher, and maybe a third person, not sure. Any way, the trucks are all Freightliners with 400,000 miles on average on them. They are hiring me on a 7 day on, 7 day off schedule, as I do not want to drive fulltime. Their terminal is 15 minutes away, and I do not have a place to park a truck at my house, so this is ideal for me.

I drove Peterbilts before with the same or more mileage on them and had a fair amount of mechanical issues with them - a rear fender fell off once, and my boss told me Peterbilts only have one bolt on the rear fender mount so you have to check them to make sure they aren't coming loose.....ok.....he switched all the chrome fender out to plastice to solve the problem.....but ####, I had one fall off, or rather got pulled off by the drive tires and then ran over it.....didn't like that feeling at all. Had one with very poor AC and drove it 900 miles that way until I got back . Had one that the doors would not latch shut, you had to push up the latch lever on the door before you shut the door. Had fuses kicked out of the fuse block by a drivers foot because the plastic cover was removed, because it would not stay in place.....and then when you had the cruise on, the brakes would not work.....yep, that is what happened until I shut the cruise off.

I will let you know how it goes, once I get started with Osborn. I am thinking it will be a good fit for me.
