No, I did mine that way and it would still kick it back saying there are too many days requested. No big deal, though.

I am a leasr driver for TransAm now. Unfortunately i agree with the maintenance department statements made previously. I am roughly 3500 in the hole and thats just my paycheck. My maintenance account is behind 2300. If companies would maintain their vehicles better, or provide compensation for downtime: drivers would be able to take care of their equipment and not go negative. I plan on sticking this out til the very end. I have to say however that TransAm has been honest about policies. It is like pulling teeth to get things done sometimes. But if you push gently but firmly, usually someone is willing to help. Hope this helps some.

Not all drivers drive around the same time as you. My husband drives all night and parks for his 10 hour break around 8 or 9 in the morning and he stays there till around 6 or 7 pm. You can't make assumptions that just because a truck is parked at the truck stop at around 1500, the driver is wasting time and not driving. Now, my husband not always have this schedule, but most of the time he does, and he accommodates to his delivery times and all that. TransAm is one of the worst companies to work for, and that is coming from my personal experience as a trucker's wife. My husband works hard, delivers on time, and still there have been times when he barely makes anything on his paycheck. This company lures new students, inexperienced drivers, or drivers in desperate need of financial help into leasing their brand new trucks, but the reality is different. I haven't seen my husband in almost 5 weeks now, he is been out there driving. This morning his paycheck was less than $100. He pays for his own fuel, the others costs of truck, mostly everything, and they deduct so many unnecessary charges, that you are almost left with nothing. They didn't pay him 5 days of orientation pay while he was driving on the road with his trainer, the payroll people don't call you back after you leave many messages about your messed up paycheck, they hide the most important facts from you during the hiring process, recruiters lie to you and show you the good picture on the phone until you actually get sucked in and can't get out. They pretty much suck the life out of you and your family and lie to you all the time.

Rifleman: "Trans Ams home policy is very simple. Give them an eight day notice that you want to be home and they will get you there. In 15 mos. I have never had one problem in getting home. But then when I come back to work I put in for the next time I want off then and it gives them time to plan for it.You can't wait eight days and then just say I want to go home. Then they have to try to find a load, and it may take away from other hands already on a load that they may have to swap out costing that driver his mileage.Planning, cooperation, and communication is what it takes for success, not complaining."

Are you still working with TransAm? Apparently there home time policy sucks. My husband requested days off for our son's surgery 12 days ahead of time, they still gave him a load 1200 miles away that he wasn't able to get home on time. He got home 3 days after the surgery. TransAm knew all along that our son will be hospitalized, yet they did nothing to help my husband or our family, but rather caused problems in our family!

In my time working for them, I only had one instance where a night dispatcher actually erased and forgot about my hometime. After realizing what he'd done, the guy profusely apologized and got me home *immediately*. Other than that, I had no problems (even when I switched from going home once a month to going home every two weeks). Granted, I was a company driver - never signed the papers because I enjoy being home from time to time.

If you sign the lease, though, be prepared to stay out! Most successful lease ops (yes, though rare, they exist!) I talked to would stay out for a month or two at a time and take an entire week off after accruing enough extra funds to make the truck payment for that week. Personally, I think if you're not prepared for that, then all you have to do is *not sign the lease and remain a company driver* - that's literally it. They might be pushy about those lease papers, but they can't fire you for wanting to just stick to being a company driver.

If you're considering Trans Am, remember that they're more like a starter company - they're okay for breaking you in to truck driving for a year or two if you're a rookie fresh out of CDL school, but if you're looking to make serious money in this industry (unless you're really knowledgeable in Lease Operating or don't really care about hometime), look elsewhere.
