Heres one for the record...When I worked for JB Hunt I came home for time off. I was very sick with the flu, so I decided to take some time off and unfortunately I had to spend it in the hospital. When I called dispatch and told them I was in the hospital, they informed me that the truck had to keep moving and it needed to be cleaned out. I told them that there was no way that I would be able to do that since I was in the hospital. Well they had a JB Hunt employee ( who is still not known who ) clean out the truck. Well that employee left a lot of my belongings inside the truck. The truck was then assigned to another driver. After I was released to go back to work from the hospital I went to collect my belongings to put into a different truck. After doing inventory I found that I had about $1,700.00 worth of belongings missing. When I asked where the rest of my belongings were and who cleaned out the truck, JB Hunt started giving me the runaround. When JB wouldnt give me the persons name who cleaned out the truck I decided to ask them to pay for my missing belongings. They refused, telling me that they weren't responsible for lost or stolen items that were left inside the truck. Well it took me 3 months of going thru the companies chain of command and me threatining to file a law suit for missing items and mental anguish before I finally reached the senior vice president at JB Hunt. I told him what had happened. 3 days later he called me and said that I had them by the ###. he said JB Hunt employees did not follow SOP for cleaning out a drivers truck, which is as follows........1st employee has to inventory everything in the truck from each sox to the last pen and sign off on the list of items. Then the employee is to take belongings to JB Hunt security people and have them inventory the same items and they to also have to sign off on the inventory items.
Well as you know by now, that procedure was not followed. The senior vice president at JB Hunt made me an offer......He said that he had been with JB Hunt for 7 years and he didnt know of any case where JB Hunt paid out 1,700.00 to anyone in this kind of situation, but he did offer me $1,000.00 . So I decided to accept the offer and take the loss.
This is not the end of the story. I was asked by JB Hunt not to tell any other driver what had happened to me for fear that other drivers would be filing claims such as mine. I laughed and hung up on them.
Is there more to this story ? You bet HAHAHHAHA. After I received the money from JB Hunt, my miles began to drop. I knew what was going on, so I decided to let it run it's course for about a month. Then I called the senior vice president back. I had him take a look at my miles for that month. He again agreed with me that this should not be happening. I asked him why would my fleet care if JB Hunt had to pay me for the lost items. ( Your gonna love this ). He explained to me , since the fleet people didnt follow SOP, they were responsible to pay for missing items. This money came out of the fleets quarterly bonus money. Now it all makes sense. I guess I pissed them off and reducing my miles was the fleets way of getting me back.
Don't sih yet, this isnt the end of the story.
I later ran into the driver who was assigned my truck while I was in the hospital. I will give you the short version of the rest of the story...HAHAHA. The driver found the missing items in the truck and decided to keep them for himself. When I asked him if I could take a look inside his truck, he refused. I called dispatch and they said he was totally innocent. Dispatch refused to let me look inside his truck. So...........I did what anyone else would have done, short of beating his ###. I called the police. When the police arrived, I described some of my missing items.
At first, the driver refused to let the police inside the truck. Then the police took him for a little ride and he agreed to let them look inside. The police found several of my missing items. When the police showed me what they had found, I told them I wanted him lockred up. They told me that the driver had been on the phone with JB Hunt and the driver told JB Hunt that I was going to have him locked up. Well, JB Hunt called me and asked me not to have the driver locked up because it would look bad for JB Hunt to have a driver locked up and a truck being left at a customers dock. The police talked me into not having the driver locked up. The police explained to me that charges would be filed in court against the driver and he would have to pay for missing items. *** Your gonna love this *** After all that was over, the police remained at this point. When I asked why they were still here, he laughed and said, the other driver said he feared for his life and the driver asked them to remain until I was gone. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. The police asked why I thought it was so funny. I told them that the load the other driver had, was the same place I was delivering to 1 one ahead of his delivery time. The police then laughed his ### off saying.....well you wont be in my state so I dont care what you do to him. The driver ended up having to pay me $350.00. And 2 weeks later, he was still driving for JB Hunt. That should tell other drivers what kind of people JB Hunt has driving for them. Theres more to the story, but I wont bore you with details........ROFLMAO.

That is DEFINITELY not my department.

Go ahead and call em into the Senior VP.

Wow! I never knew JB Hunt was that kind of company until I started reading all these horrible posts about them, as well as alot of other companies. I can't believe some of the stuff these companies get away with!

Believe it. Yes, believe even those posted by ex-England drivers, as outrageous as they seem to be.

Lots of Polyannas will claim 'it's the drivers'. Bull. I know plenty of great guys who were done wrong at the stink-pot trucking companies, and when ten thousand guys say a company sucks, it's the company. It's not the driver(s).

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

I got some buddys at work that drove otr, Willis Shaw,Trailliner,Prime. They have Quite a few horror stories! lol.

Oh I almost forgot USA Truck. One of the guys I work with drove for them for 3 weeks he got tired of sitting all the time.

A recent article in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette business section says that USA Truck is lowering guidance for Q4.

All the big companies only care about the mighty dollar, and it makes me laugh on the turnover rate and lack of customer service that they provide because of it.

Shipper, Consignee and the Company always make sure that they are covered and the Driver pays for it.
