Tell me, where else can you get into a nearly new truck for no money down, no credit check, and no start up costs? JB Hunt does all of that for the drivers.
In what kind of a financial fantasyland are you living in? If you have no money for a down payment, have no money to cover your startup costs, and can't take the risk of someone doing a credit check on you, then what on earth make you think that you have the abilities to be a successful small business owner? This is the trucking equal of a car salesman that promises "we can finance anyone". You need the money and the financial styrength to go out there and do the work. If they are paying for everything, they aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. They are doing it because they can make more profit letting you foot the bills for this truck than they can doing it themselves. And a 3-4 yeasr old truck with 600,000-700,000 miles on it does not qualify as a "nearly new truck" in my world. That's a very used truck where I come from.

To begin with, the fuel surcharge is 24cpm and JB Hunt gives steeper discounts on fuel than almost any other carrier out there.
As for the fuel surcharge amount mentioned, it has nothing to do with what they might actually be paying. In the ads running on the XM 171 Trucking channel, they are offering 82 cpm, .03 fuel adjustment, and a surcharge of .17 to get to the grand total of 1.02 cpm. I heard it, so have many others. The numbers aren;'t made up, and they aren;t figments of all of our imaginations. That is the numbers that Craig Harper is quoting directly out of his mouth on the radio. (Actually, I think he is quoting those numbers out of some other bodily orifice, but....) So Turbo is correct on the numbers he is hearing, as are all we XM listeners. And unless things have changed dreastically since I parked the truck this morning, it takes pretty close to those exact numbers just to move the truck another mile down the road.

So where did you get your bad info, Turbo? If you or anybody else wants to get the real facts, give me a call. I will be delighted to give it to you in black and white.
But, I do thank you for taking the time in this post to leave enough clues to identify who you are working for and who's seats you are struggling to fill. Your other post about good jobs made me wonder who you were recruiting on behalf of, and now it's pretty clear.

Unfortunately, this may not be fertile recruiting ground, because there are people who have enough experience and knowledge of the business to separate the chaff from the wheat. And we tend to try and keep the newbies out of harms way.

JB Hunt was accused by CRST of recruiting and pilfering it's newbie drivers before they finished out their employment contract with CRST. CRST accused JB Hunt of aggressively recruiting newbie CRST drivers at certain truck stops. Also, JB Hunt recruiters were found to have "cold-called" newbie CRST drivers at pay phones in the CRST driver's lounge at CRST terminals (will JB Hunt recruiters stop at nothing?). CRST legitimately and strongly objected to this activitiy and formally let JB Hunt know about their displeasure. According to Alfred Harper, JB Hunt cheif operating officier, JB Hunt did not tell it's recruiters about CRST's complaints regarding newbie driver pilfering. Between January and November 2005, JB Hunt pilfered over 200 newbie drivers from CRST and caused the newbies to violate their employment contract with CRST. CRST sued JB Hunt for their unsavory and unfair business practices. On February 14, 2006, Judge Stephen Froit, Western District of Oklahoma, told JB Hunt to keep their stinking hands off CRST newbies who had employment a newbie employment contract with CRST (issued injunctive relief, stinking hands was not his exact words but should have been) . Therefore, apparently, JB Hunt will steal drivers from other companies in any way they can. SHAME ON YOU JB HUNT! Mr. Harper needs a good spanking!
How can you "steal" a happy, contented driver? If these drivers were being treated like human beings, they would not have been so eager to change jobs. Don't ya think?
The fact that CRST went whining to a judge to ask for help in forcing their indentured servants into staying speaks volumes about CRST's business policies and the fact that all of these drivers were so eager to go to JB Hunt just might be an indication that JB Hunt cares about its drivers enough to treat them fairly and with the dignity they deserve.
And I know of no instance where a "cold call" was placed to a driver's lounge in a CRST terminal. JB Hunt recruiter's calls are placed by an automated dialer that is completely computerized and places it's calls from calling lists.

Re: Bad-Boy JB Hunt Fires and Blacklists

Why would JB Hunt spend so much time and go to so much trouble just to keep you from getting a few hundred dollars worth of unemployment? Their legal expenses alone would have been in the thousands, not to mention travel, hotels, etc.
Are you sure you are telling us everything?

That is entirely the point. You don't need the money to get started, but JB Hunt doesn't even begin deducting a truck payment from the driver's weekly settlements until his first full week in the truck. (Usually the 2nd or 3rd week.)

The trucks available for the lease purchase program and 2002, 2004 and 2005. They do NOT have 6 to 700,000 miles on them. Many are still under warranty, and some of the 2005 models have 100,000 miles or even less on them. What do you call a truck like that where you come from?

The current rate of pay for a lease purchase driver is .85 cpm for all miles (yes, even dead head) and a .24 cpm fuel surcharge.

I was not attempting to conceal my identity. Facts are facts and the truth is still the truth whether it comes from a recruiter or just some guy cruising the boards.
I am a JB Hunt recruiter and I am proud of the company I work for and the job that I do. I have seen a lot of driver's lives changed for the better. I have also seen some lease purchase drivers fail because they didn't have the self dicipline to treat this as a small business. Or they couldn't get past the company driver mentality or because they just couldn't keep that left had door closed.
It isn't a perfect world, but this is an outstanding opportunity for the driver who wants to try his hand at being his own boss and making a whole lot more money.

No No No! He's welcome here. In fact, if we can get some deprogrammers in on this, I think we can still save him. But it's going to take some effort. He's been brainwashed, and they did a darn fine job of it.

In all seriousness, I welcome others than just drivers, but he is going to have to temper his comments with a dose of reality.

I understand. But the way I see it, he's a virus. The rest of us have been cured, so to speak. I'd hate to see him brainwash and corrupt any newbies that don't know any better by way of this site, which would undermine everything we stand for.

Just for your education process, you should know that the entire reason that this site exists is because of some way less than satisfactory experiences the site's founder had with JB Hunt. So JB's issues are a well known and studied commodity here. And I haven't said anything against their company driver programs. They wouldn't be my cup of tea, but might be suitable for others.

But that leasing program discussed on the radio is a fast way to the poorhouse, and not something that anyone should get into. It simply has too many holes in it as described on the radio in the ads. Maybe they have better financial deals available, but that is not what they were announcing on the radio. It was a very specific set of numbers, and it's even at odds with the numbers that they are offering on their web site.

Maybe you already said this somewhere else but what are the payment's on the 2005 model's?

I am in no way interested in a job. I have already been contacted by JBH and they cannot match anywhere close to what I make now. I am just curious as I was into a lease scam from another company one time......and the payments on a 2003 with 300,000 avg. miles were over $700.00 a week. Mind you this was everything except for fuel. But it was still WAY too much.

I think the recruiter's of all these company's listed in the Report a BAD Trucking Company here should become member's here and then maybe they could clean some of the lie's that are being told to these new driver's up.
Before it ends up being told on here anyway's.

Payments

Typically, the payments on the 2005 models are around 475 - 525 a week. It all depends on the mileage of the truck. (This is for a 3 year term)
Sorry to hear you got ripped off like that. 700 bucks is pretty steep for a 2003 even with other expenses figured in. It sounds a bit like some of the horror stories I have heard from other drivers who tried that little venture with Prime.
I agree with you. I would love to see drivers and recruiters get together and put some of the ugly rumors to rest, or, if it is true, at least be able to explain it. I still talk to owner operators who think that JB Hunt will put a governor on their truck or that our drivers have to wear uniforms. There is so much misinformation floating around, you would laugh out loud at some of the things I have been told.
