Re: JB Hunt

You stole a company car to get home, and you mailed bricks with a postage paid envelope marked for "Official Business Use Only"? I cannot imagine that there was not some criminal fallout for either of those acts. We're talking felonies on both counts. You actually declared that you had something else than what was actually in a package to a Postal employee. That's big time.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone repeat ANY of this, because both acts could well screw up your life for sometime to come if the humor is lost on the authorities.

And let's define something else while we are at it. Taking revenge on another driver's truck, despite who he drives for, is just wrong. Don't misunderstand me. I've had those same kind of thoughts at one time in my life, but you're screwing up another driver who has done nothing to you, when you cause him to have to deal with intentional damage to their equipment. Sure...the company will most likely deal with the cost of the damage, but that driver is hurt as well, and I don't see that he deserves revenge taken out on his truck.

Re: JB Hunt

I used to recruit for JB Hunt. They did not warn us in training class of the hostility we would incur at the truck stops from drivers, though they knew. One day I called my boss and asked what had JB Hunt done to cause so much hostility. He said the "old JB Hunt " had had some problems, but the "New JB Hunt" had corrected them. Bull! The same problems still exist today. I think many of their problems are caused by recruiters lying to drivers to hire them, especially the telemarketers. When I went back to Lowell, AR for my advanced training, they sat me beside their leading telephone recruiter. He lied about everything. Even the "thes, ands , buts"were lies. JBH recruiting management has to know it goes on because they monitor the phone calls, not for honesty, but sales techniques. One day I got tired of admitting that I worked for JBH and left.

Re: How I KNOW you suck, J.B. Hunt

As a former JB hunt recruiter, I can tell you that JB Hunt has to hire 500 drivers a week to replace the ones that quit. The pressure on recruiters is awful. Too much pressure causes ordinarilly good people to do bad things; like lying to drivers to hire them.

Out of one side of their mouths.....

Out of one side of their mouths, these big companies claim that "they can't find enough drivers". I only have to ask "Who are they trying to fool?" These companies KNOW how to solve their turnover problems, so why don't they just go ahead and DO it?

Because they LIKE turnover, at least SOME turnover.

I haven't figured out exactly WHY, but "500" seems to be about the magic number at these outfits. I read an article on turnover (this site referred me to that article) yesterday, and the CEO at Swift said something about 500 trucks sitting idle.

What's the scoop? Do these companies get huge tax write-offs when they have about 500 drivers quit per week?

500 trucks sitting around idle for days and even weeks eats into profits like a horde of termites eating through an oaken porch, yet Swift, J.B. and the like continue to rake in the profits. Would someone please share with me an "insider's" explanation of how this can be happening? I'm a natural-born skeptic, and I'm tired of guessing where their profits are coming from (besides their ripping off their drivers, of course).

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

Re: How I KNOW you suck, J.B. Hunt

Just because you see a truck sitting at a terminal doesnt mean its waiting for an OTR driver. There are about 20 reasons that truck could be there.
A lot of times you are seeing trucks waiting for a dedicated account to open.

When I worked for JB Hunt, they had a recruiter that called himself "BigDawg". That is the same name he used when talking to drivers on JBH's computer dialed calling system.

Re: How I KNOW you suck, J.B. Hunt

I wouldnt work for jb if they were the last standing trucking company. A couple of months ago I posted a resumee on a jobfinder website, ps this is a bad idea. I have been hounded by J.B. for atleast 5 months now. I have tried everything to get them to quit calling me, I even went as far as saying I had 2 D.U.I.'s they still call me. I told them I had a felony drug conviction, they still call me. BTW none of that is true, I have a flawless record. Everytime they call me it is a different recruitor, I am at my wits end with them it seems there is no way to get them to quit calling me. I am considering making my way to louisville with a big ball bat and solving this problem at that terminal. Anyone got any suggestions of how to get them to leave me alone. I wish I could sue them for harrassment. I sure someone will say dont answer the phone, that is not an option. I work for an O/O that has agents/brokers all over the country that call me to see if I am headed there way everyday. It is hard to memorize all those numbers besides everytime good old J.B. calls it is a different #. PS J.B.H. sucks major rearend, if your truck dont run 70 you are a road hazard!!!!!!
