Angry J B Hunt Recruiting Lies And Disorganization

Drivers; Beware of the things you listen in the adds and the business cards the recruiters are distributing in the truck stops about the opportunities to become a lease/purchase contractors or company driver with J B Hunt. This is what happened to me; I was resting in a truck stop and a recruiter gave me a business card of his in Atlanta terminal instructing me about the fabulous opportunities with them. The time passed by and I decided to contact them in order to be consider for the orientation. To tell you the long story short ,they made all the arrangements and told everything was done.NOT, [The recruiter] never told me I was going to share a room with a person I did not know and in order to be in a private room I had to pay half of the room's rate, they knew that the experience I had was over 25 years in Puerto Rico;they told me it was ok,NOT, they as many other companies do not consider the exparience in PR but nevertheless they urge me to keep in the orientation room for the rest of the week. As mentioned before I went for the lease/purchase agreement but after seing the contract I decided to become a company driver because the recruiter told me I could do that, but guess what?,I was told the orientation pay was $ 75.00/day,NOT, because I decided to be a company driver It was $50.00/day and the first day did not count. After realizing the half truths they said to me there was another problem about my residence that was not in a hundred mile radious which they never told me.I was working with a good company and lost my job because they call to gather job references without hiring me in first place . After all this mess I stood until saturday (seventh days in Atlanta) I was not hired and it has been eight days and still I am hanging-on;to finish this story I was charge by the hotel $118.50 to my account causing me to get charged by the bank in overdrawn charges for another $216.00 I got paid only $120.00. In other words I took a trip to Atlanta to sightsee their facilities, take a road test and driving courses in safety and two days lifting weights and urine analysis in order to qualify phisically, eating pizza (3 slices not one more) and paid $334.50 for this nightmare and then when I went for some kind of explanation the response is you had bad luck!!!! In my oppinion J B HUNT is an irresposible organization and do not care about the most important position in their business the Professional Drivers without us the trucks do not run. Heads up guys.

This is a typical complaint, albeit with some new twists.

I apologize for cutting out the particular name of the recruiter, a man I have dealt with in the past, when I was in a playful mood and wanted to do a little poking around. He's one of the most dishonest recruiters they have.

Apparently they have upped their level of cheapness. Having to share rooms, or pay half is a new low. As if drivers didn't have enough trouble getting a good meal, here we have them feeding them pizza.

Anyone who is or has considered JB Hunt will get a fast lesson in just how bad it can get, and there is a warning that needs to be repeated.

Don't EVER believe that you are hired until you are actually in one of those trucks. They will tell you that you are good to go, will telly you that you have been checked out, but they don't do one bit of investigation into your background until you are on site. You are always subject to being turned down at any point up to the minute they assign you a truck. I have heard that 75% of the people they pull in at times, are discharged by the time orientation concludes. You have to wonder if they do it on purpose for a tax write-off. I see no other reason why they would go to such lengths to screw with people's lives, unless there was some ulterior motive and/or benefit.

Don't trust one word that their recruiters tell you. The picture that is painted is pure fantasy. They will lie to direct questions asked. Good people have quit jobs ten times better than anything that JB Hunt offers, will ever pan out to be.

There is no circumstance whatsoever, under which I would recommend anyone surrender your time to attempt to be hired on with J.B. Hunt, Inc.

They are about to surpass Swift for the bad egg award of the century.

Many companys send people home though. Roehl sent me home the first day of orientation. I dont know why they do it either so I suppose the ulterior motive is correct. I work for JB Hunt and yes they do like to lie to people. This is capitalism at work. Try to understand the horrors of the American enterprise.

I'm not sure which behavior you are referring to, but when it comes to JB Hunt, they excell in dishonesty and in baiting and switching tactics.

As a general rule, most companies will not require drivers to bunk with strangers (but ALWAYS ask about the lodging arrangements during orientation of any company you are considering), nor will they lure an unsuspecting driver to a place with little intention of hiring them. Why JB Hunt does this, is a mystery. If a driver does not meet their criteria, I fail to see why they pay to bring them to orientation, just to cut them later.

On a side note, it's also one of their practice to enter in negative information on a driver's DAC report when they cut them from orientation, effectively preventing them from moving on with their life and seeking another dirving position.

Most companies will tentatively screen drivers, and complete the background checks when they are on site, but in most cases, it is only where a driver has been dishonest about something, or fails the physical or drug screening process, that problems like this occurs.

What differs with JB Hunt, is that in my estimation, it appears that the recruiters are under the gun to produce warm bodies, that they take little care to actually eliminate people with issues that will most likely prevent them from being hired, even when they are honest about them, as this man did with his experience being in Puerto Rico, rather than in the 48 states.

The last documented instance that was revealed in regard to JB Hunt's turnover rates, pegged it at 180% per year. This was revealed in a court case from early last year, and it tells the story of just how bad that company is. This translates into them having to replace drivers for every last one of those trucks, nearly twice a year. Now of course, this isn't actually the case. They have some long time employees for certain, but it means that they are consistently short of drivers, and will go to any length to attempt to put warm bodies behind those steering wheels. It's utterly pathetic.

There is no excuse under the sun, for jacking people around like this. They seem to have no conscience when it comes to screwing with people, nor take into consideration what it costs a driver to change jobs, much less what it takes to overcome being abused like they apparently did this man. His story is so believable, because similar complaints exist all over the web that tell the same tale.

I hope he will be able to move on, and file this away as an experience to never forget, but to eventually laugh about.

I truly wonder how some people sleep at night...
