Recently I've heard some of JB Hunt's radio ads and every time I here them my face turns red. They think that their competitors have no reason for complaining about JB Hunt being in a truckstop recruiting drivers. These companies force drivers to go into a certain truck stop to fuel and do they like JB Hunt being in there talking their slick talk and trying to take their drivers away? I mean C'MON.

It is rediculous the ads they have that say they pay the highest & why don't you come over and make 6-10k more here. That company just burns me up how they treat drivers. They pay NOTHING for a FULL weekend of a driver sitting.

How can you make more money there? You CAN'T! Driver's, don't be fooled by their slick and sly words. They are pros at getting drivers in the door because they have to be because they can't keep anybody!

When this company tells a driver to come to orientation they won't even have the driver's application approved yet! They can have 800 drivers show up for orientation every week and then let 600 of them go before they even get out of orientation due to finding something wrong on their applications.

It is my suggestion that you NOT work for this company!

    :x

My husband was with J. B. Hunt for 7 years. Paycut after paycut including bonus, although VERY bad, is not the worst of it. SERIOUS problems arose and my husband hosted driver's meetings. Then he and nine other drivers signed a grievance letter and presented it to the company on January 10, 2004. On February 10, 2004 he manuvered a legal and safe u-turn. OBC message within minutes to call in, claiming a motorist complaint. After being directed to make 2 more stops, was sent to HUB, pulled off run, terminated for "doing a u-turn"! NLRB investigator of case called approx 2 weeks ago to add more charges. My husband agreed and did so. This past week, NLRB called, informed me the investigator is "no longer with the agency", and "all charges are being dropped against the company". As a wise man might say; "Company have deep pockets". NOT the end of story. Stay tuned!

I agree with you. That is utterly rediculous. Who among us HASN'T done the same thing MANY times over? I do it myself all the time. I HAVE to.

I will be with you and try to assist in any manner I can. The reason he was terminated I'm 100% positive is because of his trying to get drivers together. You can bet on it. JB Hunt is a cut-throat company and will cut anybody down who gets in their way.

I wonder wether you'd have a case in court? I don't know but they are pretty slick about this stuff. Make sure you have your ducks in a row and bring ALL information you have about their other bad practices before proceeding though. They will cut you down fast and hard if you don't.

You and I both know that after 7 years of working for them you can let out MUCH info about them that they do NOT want to be let out.

Be careful! Private message me if you have a plan that you need to speak with me privately.

Thanks Truckers! Yes, we went to a lawyer about this and after the one hour consultation we paid $100 for, we were told by him that from what he could see he felt we had a legitimate claim against J. B. Hunt. However, according to him "these types of cases" are hard to prove and require a lot of paperwork, filings, subpoenas, affidavits, depositions, etc... which require a lot of funding up front and since there is no telling at this point in time how much it would mean for him financially in the end, that he would require money up front for all of that. Needless to say, that was the end of all hope for being able to make JBH stand trial for this. And after all this time, JBH is aware of that. Now, they feel more power than ever to abuse my husband. For instance, I have all documentation including certified mail and return receipts proving that I have paid for cobra insurance, dental and vision only, because we could not afford anything else. My husband went to the dentist 2 days ago and they told him the ins company had been informed by JBH that our coverage was terminated as of June 01, 2004. You might say, "Well, they can't do that". Well, they "can't do" everything they've done. But, there is noone to help us. The NLRB has apparently been, shall I say, "conveniently convinced" to overlook the FACTS provided to them, and that was the only hope we had left. In addition, what I haven't said is that the grievance letter contained information that falls under the category of WHISTLEBLOWING. This would be SUPER MOTIVATION for JBH to "convince" the NLRB that they should do everything they can to find AGAINST my husband. GET IT? So, here we set. I have requested an extension of time to file an appeal from the NLRB because I need more information from the office that made the decision. Their website indicated a decision on that would be made within 2 working days. The request was made on June 28, 2004 at 2:28am. This is July 01, 2004 and still shows the decision is pending. I will let you and all others know this. A website is being built that will lay out in full detail this whole case. All documentation will be scanned and provided. This includes documentation in management's own handwriting and directly from them. This will NOT just be notations by my husband. The documentation from JBH will tell the WHOLE TRUTH and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, So help us God. Because noone else will! I hope this will help someone else to make an informed decision on whether or not to choose JBH as a potential employer. Will keep you posted.

it gets me every time i hear a driver say that they can't fire me for this,or they can't write me up for that.unless you are a member of a union,or have a contract stating exactly what you can and cannot be terminated for or stating that you will be employed from this date to that date, they can fire you for any reason that they can make up,and they do not have to prove that you are guilty----period.as long as it is not discriminatory(race, sex, religion, etc)that is the law in every state in the union.oh,i suppose if you had the cash to fight a big company in court, but if any of us had that kind of jack we wouldn't be working in the first place.
