i was company driver with overton transportation a division of sysco, sysco sold overton out to greatwide transportation on jan 15 2011. we got a 2 week notice of the change . overton had great benefits and was overall a fair company considering it was produce, anyway greatwide set out a list of qualifications in order to become a employee of thiers i met all the guide lines and of course the freight would be same pickin up produce in calif etc bringing it east but wgen it came time for me to get hired over to greatwide they turned me down for felonies that i required 30+years ago so ive lost all my ins etc. i have a clean mvr and no accidents at all been driving for 16 years so i feel like they discriminated against me. i went to file a complaint with eeoc and they said there was no law they violated but if i had been colored or hispanic i would have had a case based on color they hired 5 drivers the same day i was released so u better watch them they also told all the overton drivers not to let the other employees know that they automatic got insurance and pay stayed the same that didnt sound good either

Laidback, That's a bunch of crap! They acquired that company which you were a employee of. If I were you, I would call a attorney that handles employment or contract law. They really cant fire you unless there were certain guidelines and term in their buyout or acquisition of your company....DONT LET THEM PUSH YOU. Maybe under their policy they wouldn't hire anyone with a felony but you are not applying for a job...you had one if I undrstand you right? They very well might have wrongfully terminated you and you could be entiltled to your job back and monetary compensation! Call a lawyer....this from someone who owns 2 businesses and my opinion is that they did you wrong! If you have any questions..just ask me and I will help you out with what info I know and can give you.

TN doesn't care if felons can find work. Some states do. MD comes to mind. So does HI.
