National Carriers was started by the same person who started TransAm.

His father, They owned national beef.
They sold out back in 90s.
Trans-am started out as all O/O company in the caves on the MO side.
Now they are in Olathe KS as a lease mill.
    Renting trucks to their driver.

actually National [Critter] was started by several guys, one of them the owner of TA. The others bought him out in a "forced" buy out due to his practices.

The whole story is his story and their story but when you see how he ran TA before he retired you'll understand whose story was the truth and it's not the "owner of TA!"

Yes Critter WAS one of the best out there. I had a neighbor a lady friend who drove for quite a few companies until she started with National. She was still with them after about a year I guess but she moved to WA, they helped her AFTER doing good by her in a workers comp deal but I haven't heard from her since. BUT I can say she was real happy with them over Blue Bird, several small owners, Rohel and I think CRE then a few more. Yes she did jump a few seats the 7 years she was my neighbor! I wonder if she's still there!

If anyone knows Ruth get her to EM Me here, post here or I know you still have the house number! Add 888 as the prefix! Flash misses your puppy! He sits in the driveway watching the front door wondering where his wrestle buddy is!

I worked for a small fleet owner at NCI for 2 years. I had no trouble with him at all and he treated his drivers real well and had nice equipment and I would recomend him to anyone. Having to deal with NCI.... Thats a whole different ball game...... The Lease op deal is a SCAM and you will lose your ###, I never met anyone at NCI in the lease op program that was making any money. There are some DM's at National that will say stay far away from the L/O program and the guy that runs it, Ed is a snake in the grass...... Now as far as O/O go over there I was getting mixed reviews on it, some said good and some bad. This was back in 01-03. things I am sure have changed now and from what I hear at NCI it has gone down hill and the fleet owner I used to work for went from 32 trucks down to 3 I was never able to get the whole story on that if it was NCI or something else. If you are going to look at NCI I would do it as a O/O only.

When I was with TransAm, it was not a lease mill. I hate to see that company going down the road its going down. Was once a good company with good people where you could get respect. All I hear now about TA is horror stories, glad I got to drive the couple of years with them when they were still a good company.

Leasing a truck is a stupid idea. Well with the economy the way it is.

You started with them Nov. 30 and was starting Bankruptcy come Jan. Sounds like to me you didn't have much in savings at all to be starting a business. Thirteen years experience and you didn't know to stay away from the fleece programs?

Their is no such thing as a successful lease program that someone has done. Even if you made it to the end and paid of the truck you still paid way to much for the truck when it is all said and done. Like three times as much to me that is not successful.

National Carriers and National Beef is owned by some foreign company (not for sure where they are based) just like JBS out of Greeley. I remember when National Carriers "the Elite Fleet" was truly an "Elite Fleet" and was 100% owner operators and had several fleet owners. They were all American drivers, they dressed professionally, they all ran nice equipment, they ran hard and they made money.
