I have over 13yrs driving truck otr, and I love it, well until it broke me working for National Carriers, I did the lease, i recieved a 30 warrenty on the truck, I was broke down for 19 days, they covered the problems, as it says in contract, I started working there in Nov 2010, and I had a nice savings account, by Jan 2011, I was getting ready to start bankcruptcy, I lost the trust in this company almost over night, I went 5 weeks straight with no paycheck, Not only you charged for everything, you also get screwed if you drive more than 2400 miles, they charge you .07 cpm for over the milage limit, like they do if you rent a car, then they charge you .10cpm for your maintance account, so right off the bat, If you get a load that pays .87cpm, minus the .07cpm and the .10cpm=.17cpm, .87-.17= your only making .70cpm, and then you have to pay for fuel, and the expenses, so if you choose to do the lease option, I wish you the best of luck, and hope you have enough money in your account to carry you over, they give you enough miles to cover the fuel and the truck payment, just google National Carriers truck company, and you will see that everything you hear about bad lease programs will happen at National, YOU JUST HAVE BEEN WARNED, stay away from this scam of a truck company, I feel sorry for the people that work there lying to the people who sign up for it.:biggrin_25510:

    I wouldn't get near them,

if only because of their terrible safety record !!!!

And over the next 2 years, alot of drivers are going to switch to safer companies,

if they want to stay in the business.........

I agree with ya, I just dont see how, a company can stay running when the record is so high, and the turn over rate is thru the roof, I almost want to go back and work for FFE again, lol

Always a shame when i see once top notch companies go this way. The elite fleet moniker used to be just that. All good hands(true o/o then) did well made money have fun--another bites the dust I guess. shame:(

These owners have found a way to run a trucking co w/o the expenses. Its called a Fleece Deal. They want someone else to pay for everything & they reap all the benefits!

Leases can be profitable - the idea is you run at a better efficiency than the carrier does. But 87 cpm and you take 10 cpm off the top for maintenance? The revenue has to be there to make it work - and sub $1 per mile won't pay th bills...

Hauled cattle into National Beef in Dodge and Liberal lots. Not many english speaking drivers in the "Elite Fleet". $.70 a mile is slave wages.

Just stay away from NATIONAL CARRIERS, they will screw you every which way, you could not imagine, before you sign up with them, just ask drivers you see going down the road, some will say good company, and the rest will say, stay away, I should have listened the the drivers i talked to, but it cost me in the end, I followed there routine, and still lost all.
