When I first started I was told the account I wanted had no openings. I told them thank you for the training it has been nice. They checked again and an opening had just come available as we were on the phone. I still work that account, and 47K was my smallest year. I am home everyday but not really for much more than sleep and shower. I get a 34 hour reset once a week and that is it for time off.
As I stated in another post if you compare what I work to make the money I do to a 40 hour a week job, I work 6.5 weeks a month. Yes I know there are not 6.5 weeks in a month it is a comparison of hours I work to a 40 hour week.
I do not think it would be possible make that money solo otr now or then. I have spoke to a few otr drivers that seem to be content with what they do, however I do not think I would be. I can tell you that my experience is not the normal or average experience at werner. You can make money with them, but I think a lot depends on your location and you as a person. It does not come easy and it gets no easier as time goes by. As I have said before I don't suggest you work here.Yodler Thanks this. -
are there any good trucking companies left, every time I look up a company there's something bad, or is it the people working for them

After you have been driving with the company for six months as a qualified driver and passed our certified training program, you have the potential to make the
following as a trainer:
POTENTIAL EARNINGS FOR A TRAINER
$65,000 - $100,000
6 months?? Once again this is proof that these co's aren't interested in training but running a cheap labor operation. Trying to brag how much $$ you can make as a trainer & with those wages you are running as a team. That's a major disservice to to student whom is trying to learn to to a new trade.Rollover the Original Thanks this. -

Just got hired on with Werner. I have to do the co-driver thing for 140 hours because of time off but I had my 'trainer' within two hours of ending orientation. While the motel in Omaha wasn't the newest or nicest place, it was certainly clean. True the 'breakfast' and 'lunch' they proved are of simple means but who is dumb enough to leave the house for days without money to feed themselves? The equipment is up to par, much better than Swift, and who ever said the physical was a joke is obviously unable to tell a joke from them Mona Lisa. I had trouble with some medication and the company did everything they could to make sure I got the proper paperwork put together so I could get my DOT card.
I am seriously thinking that all of the drivers on here ######## are doing so because Werner fired them because they were not doing their jobs properly and it is easier to rag on a company than to take culpability for being an idiot. The Duchess and AfterShock Thank this. -
^ I,of course, wish for you the best, but I talk to anyone who wants to when I am on the road, and their are many, many unhappy Werner folks out there. I just cant understand how one can put Swift down, and praise Werner, when,at the very BEST,they are both in the same league..Do keep us posted,as time goes on.
