And then there were THESE guys I saw

I saw a few different personality types at my old mill. One was this "flunkie" we're talking about. But there were one or two other types as well. One group was made up of the overconfident "supertruckers", or (at least in THEIR minds) those who knew more about the machines than anybody, including the trainers. Damn these guys were annoying. They could tell you anything you wanted to know about a particular truck, from how tight the wheel bolts were torqued to how thick their new brake linings were. Useless information, in other words. Useless in the sense that it didn't help these guys be safe drivers. A couple were so overconfident in their abilities they had had their first backing wrecks by the time they had been on the job a month. One superdude tore down a dock building in his third month and was fired. Maybe these guys should be spotted early and shown the exit just like the flunkies?

Re: Werner Training

I had one who thought he was gods gift to trucking. He went so far as to tell me that he was ten times better than me. So as I was kicking him out of my truck at a flying j in Florida I told him he might be better than me but atleast I wasnt going to have to walk home. Just to let you know he lived in Buffalo.

Re: Werner Enterprises - Get a load of this one...

One suggestion, talk to a lawyer. One who specializes in workmans comp and social security benefits. Sure helped me when I claimed an injury working for a big outift who will remain nameless. They (the company) didn't want to help me out after I got injured, but once a lawyer called them up, their attitude changed in a hurry.

There are way too many "supertruckers" as you call them out on the road, I've seen one in the making. When I was in truck driving school back in 04 this guy swore he knew everything there was about trucking. He told one of the instructors out on the skills pad he didnt need to work on parallel docking anymore cuz he had it perfect. The instructor had him get in the rig and do it anyway. To our amusement he couldnt parallel that damn truck to save his life and all eyes were on him!

Re: Werner Training

Priceless, it's time like that you wish you had it on video so you could send it into America's funniest home video's. Too bad we always think of these things AFTER the fact, sigh...

Re: Werner Training

1 tractor trailer - $130,000

1 Underpaid Instructor - $50,000

1 idiot that cant park a truck after 5 attempts in front of 20 people and claiming he's the perfect driver.....

PRICELESS!

Re: Werner Training

I got one for you. Put one of these supertruckers-to-be in an old Mack, with a two-stick tranny. I can hear the smarta$$ now. "Hey, I read about these in history class. Duh, which one do I use?"
