| This is what he said was given as the reasons for letting him go: 1) Two late loads several months ago. 2) Higher-than-they wanted idling time (he did not have one of those units on his truck that gives you heat and AC w/o idling, and in the past, his dispatcher had let him know when he was getting high on the stats). Nothing like the 60% I saw someone post as an example stat on the boards here, very low actually. 3) And "low production" - in the several months he's worked there, he has had that truck into service at least 10-12 times, if not more. There were at least two serious problems with the truck that repeatedly did not get fixed. And of course, many of the times the truck was stuck in service he had to sit for days waiting for it. He was shocked, and so am I. He put up with a lot working for them (the same old stories that have been related many times here), but he still had a good attitude and worked really hard to do his best for them. Based on what he made earlier this year, he was earning well under $30,000 annually working for them. And in the last month, things got really slow. He had three really low paychecks in a row. My guess is that maybe they are pairing down drivers now due to the economy. DH was closing in on a year. That meant higher pay, a bonus and a vacation. With all the drivers they keep recruiting, it's lower cost for them to keep the newbies. I've warned him about the DAC record, and how he should get a copy, that others have reported that things have shown up there. I also warned him that I have seen reports that others have not gotten the remaining pay due. Any ideas regarding how he can get past this career stumble? | I worked for Those thieves for 4 1/2 years . They will steal from you every chance they can. If you pull a scateboard they not pay for bungee straps after the 1st box. 1 time i had to pay cash on the ohio tnpk because my toll card expired & never got it back. 1 time I had to buy several gal. of oil because it got blown out the stacks & never got it back. 1 time I had a load coming out of Canada to I81 . At the port of entry the local thieves & the kangaroo court & ny state pigs was stealing by targeting freightlinners for a minor air leak in a front brake hose that was fixed on the spot. I had to pay 350.00 & werner would not pay. I sued them in general district court & lost because I got a corperate ### kissing judge. Then I appealed to circuit court and lost . Werner would rather pay shyster lawyer much more ,than to pay me what they owed Werner is run by the three stooges that are stupid & evil!!! |

| I looked up his 4 posts, and he has one other about Anderson Trucking and how they are a bunch of theives and he got fired from there for a bunch of the same stuff. Then he has another post ranting about how the capitalists and KKK are out to get him, and the other post is something about overthrowing the people you work for because they are out to get him. You know after reading those posts, it is no wonder that he thinks that everybody is out to get him. Somebody else once said here on one of these forums about the guys that are always "the victim" and evrybody is out to get them and they are being brought down by "the man" and all this other garbage that you see and hear about all the time. You have an attitude problem with everybody around you and you think that everybody around you is out to get you and out to screw you and guess what? He probally is right, if he worked for me, I would probally fire him also--If he wants to play "victim" then who am I to disappoint him? |

| what do you mean I have an attitude problem? I dont have an attitude problem at all. I am just a realist. But i do look at the people that have only been with Werner for 4 months and then give up on them. It took me a few months to get going real well for this company. But to each their own.. |

| Hello all, been waylaid by a broken HD on my laptop makes OTR communication a pita since my cell phone doesn't like the forums posting page at all. I've got to chime in here on Werner's behalf. My truck, the current one, is currently slurping oil like it was diesel. I think in the last 2 months we've put in like 4 gallons. Everytime of course we send in the preauthorization before getting the oil and get approved before we do. everytime, when we send the reciept in on the proper trip that it was authorized for we got paid back. They also paid us back for the antifreeze, scales, tolls (when mr. hubby remembers to send in the reciept), and one time they paid us back the 30 bucks over my hubby went on a 75 gal limit station. Which I honestly didn't expect. So in short, theives they are not. If you follow proper procdure you get you $ back. Now on a DOT violation I can see them not paying, not that I've had one other then a tire issue that they paid to repair, after all something like that you should have caught in your pretrip eh? As for the fired hubby, I can attest they ARE on a firing spree for solo drivers, though I can assure you they are NOT firing anyone whom is close to a year. They are firing simply those whom they have enough valid reasons to fire, unforunatly for you there were three things dooming your hubby. I don't nessicarily agree with the tactic but please don't spread silly unsubsantiated rumors. It sucks, but its not just Werner being mean, they have so few loads they have to cut back drivers. Its the economy and they are not the only ones. As for the DAC I am sure its fine, check though to be sure. And being fired for the above mentioned things should not keep you from another job. No accidents? No tickets? And a year exp? You're golden to get another job, well... provided there are any in this economy right?

Also depends on what the DOT violation is on whether a company pays or doesnt--some things you just do not catch on pre-trip because they are not really part of it--there are 96 things that you do on a pre-trip, but there are 127 things that a DOT officer will do when giving you the whole nine yards-beleive me, Ive been there, and done that--they even check 5th wheel slop(which is not part of your pretrip) and they even do the entire break leakdown test which takes like 15 minutes, and most drivers havent even done that since they go their CDL. An average full nine-yard inspection plus your paperwork and license takes about 1.5-2 hours, it is not a fun 2 hours either. Most of the inspections that officers give are pretty half-assed and take about a half hour, but every now and then you run into one that checks everything and I do mean everything. |
