I've seen a lot of that as well. I am on the DG account. I was lucky enough to get a truck as soon as I finished my 300 hrs of training but the next 2 students my trainer had didn't. I think a lot of it has to do with how good of an evaluation the trainer turns in. I did pretty well but the next 2 drivers did not and they ended up waiting. Also, you are right about Werner paying less on the DG and FD accounts than other companies. Where I run out of in Fulton, MO we share the yard with Hogan and their drivers are making about $400 a week more than we are. Their drivers all have at least a year with the company as well where as most of our drivers have 6 months or less in a truck.

Does Vicki still work in the Werner office at Fulton? I think her husband had something to do with running the warehouse there.

Werner pays less for they bid lower to get the account.I never was able to find out how much they charge for the driver to unload it but like all of them I am sure they make money off the driver on that as well.Werner has to take students from truck driving schools for they can not get good drivers because their starting pay is lower then any out there unless you work dedicated and I had a real good friend that works DG and with what he told me I can see why Swift had more drivers there then Werner and Werner has the account in S.Boston,Va.FD and DG both plan to open more stores and it will be interesting to see if Werner can handle it,I doubt it but thats JMO.

I had gone to school for 6 months of training at NTTS (great school!) and got my CDL A and endorsements. I had Werner and Swift calling me once a week until I finished school. I called Werner to make sure they had routes in my area and they told me they had many routes available in my area.

I decided to go to Werner and what a nightmare. After orientation I had to wait a week in a crappy motel with ants for a non smoking driver since they didn't have any women trainers available. He turned out to be cybil. A different personality each day. He loves to tell me how he makes 2500 bux a week because he is training me.

So when I was 30 hours from completing training, I call driver placement. All of sudden there are no routes in my area at all. What?! The only reason I signed up with Werner was because of this very fact.

    Now I have 3 options:

    - Team up with someone and drive 2 1/2 months without a break then get a week off.

    - Drive the 48 states and Canada with no idea when I would get a break

    - Go home and call each day to see if there are routes available.

Yup.. great work Werner. You have wasted my time, your time and money and now I have to start all over again. Stay away!

$2500 Werner dollars is more like $700-800 ObamaDollars.

Sad fact: With JB Hunt it's almost a factor of 4-5. =JB Driver: "I made $3000 last week" = $600

Hint: No matter what the driver is always right so believe them. =Not worth fighting them (especially true with solo fleecers)

    Hey everyone,

I need information from people that are currently working either as trainers or Drivers for Werner. I got my call today and it looks like I'm off to orientation this coming Monday in Phoenix. What should I expect? I'm an open minded person so let me know what the deal is and don't hold anything back. I'm told that at the end of training ill be assigned my own truck and put on the regional fleet. I have read on here that it is common for there to be NO trucks available when training is finished, and in some cases drivers have ended up with a voluntary quit if they have to wait over 30 days. Exactly how common is this and does it happen often? Any information is helpful, thanks.

Read my reply that is about 2 above yours. I live in NY near Canada, so it's not like there aren't any routes this way.

I was working there for 6 months and I have only been a way for about 3 weeks I am telling you the truth when I say don't take the ticket and don't go there go with another one of these companies you are going to waste your time and money fact no lies I seen it often it is not just ever now and then I am telling you if you just got out of driving school you got options and you should check them all I worked 6 months with them I stayed out 3 months straight I made 6,000.00 dollars in that 6 month period I trained out of Lithia Springs,GA There are a lot of other trucking companies taking students and they are #### good ones PRIME INC,TRANSAM,P.A.M BUT GET ON TO ALLEN FREIGHT SIDE SISTER COMPANY P.A.M OWNS IT my buddy has work there straight out of trucking school smallest check he had in 7 months was for 2,500 miles prime pays up to 600.00 a week to train on a truck you have to do I think it is 60,000 miles out of school or they will pay 0.12 cent a mile ever which way you make morefor that week.SCHNEIDER NATIONAL is another one. Prime you will get your port and passport the port will help you get into train yards and ship yards for containers you use it with the to pick up at ship yards they run reefer and at this time in this times it is the best cause you can use there trailers as dry or frozen food so you never miss to many loads less time seating I know I have buddy working there two in fact and I know this from them for fact. Werner will tell you whatever you want to hear and I know prime just picked up a huge Walmart account for the reefers I beleive it takes affect this month or next. Also I don't know if anyone pays attention to some of these trailers that we see on the roads but I have noticed that J.B.HUNT AND HOGAN AND ADVERITT HAVE STARTED PULLING MORE DG LOADSNOT THE EXPERT HERE AND NEVER SAID I WAS BUT I BELEIVE SOON THAT WERNER WILL BE ON THE WAY OUT I KNOW IN SC SHIFT RUNS THAT DG YARD AND THEY US TO OUT OF VA BUT THEY GOT BACK INTO IT SOME HOW. Ask why remeber werner hires stundents and alot of them and some of these trainers are not that great they like me and you and some many others want to make this money so come on you got 90 days in we are going to send you to class at a terminal so you can train and make more money we will give you more loads yes they will but you are running the crap out the truck and that trainer could care less if he shows you any thing we got to go make them miles ask around that is no lie.Prime also runs tanker and flat beds but out of school you will most likely be on reefer maybe differnt for you. I am looking into transam and US Express and also Western Express I have job offers from all three and I am thinking hard on Transam but again like you I am doing the homework before I jump this time cause where I go I am stuck till I get a year in next time. If you take the bus ticket and go get there and decide you don't want it you run the risk of them screwing your dac up cause you took the ticket so where hired by there stanards I have heard hear say of this. They are very very twisted in the things they do no apu's on all trucks litmit idle time to 10 hours in a 24 hour period so sleeper breaks you can idle the 10 but if you go over you will get warnings then written then you are gone no lies I was wrote up for over idle two times I was up north in MI,IL,IN,NY,NJ,PA they get you to these places you will sit and sit. Also on this idle thing I was told rember all dispatchers are differnt but one says 40 to 70 degrees outside no idleing not even the 10 hours they give and rember you sit in traffic at a light and the truck is running you are idleing. Oh yeah you will run on that trainers truck but rember you got to do 300 hours if you wreck he wrecks or he gets fired or anything out of the day to day of what you have learned you will get more hours 150 hours you can take ppo but they will pay you for that week but again you stay out do your time you have a better shot at getting a truck off the trainers but most likely it will be a peace of crap and this is what I seen you take it or go home is how it is said in most cases I am just giving you the facts was the worst mistake I ever made and yes they will tell you anything to get you there I quit them and no I was not fired and no wrecks or anything while working just 4 checks 0.00 dollars for 4 weeks straight you have to take cash advance on the road you don't draw enough money also your trainer lives for example in CA and you leave in AZ you will spend the next 300 drive hours where he lives for the most part so you get on a trainers truck running DG you are going home most likely ever weekend to where he lives not where you live I had 8 weeks out of KY running DG on my trainers truck that is where he lived I live in NC so from 11/26/2008 till 02/06/2009 I was on a trainers truck that is the day I was assigned a truck and came home then went back out till I quit in 05/12/2009. I left truck and trailer at there drop yard they own it they still put it on my dac report but ever company who has pulled it ask them for the address of where I dropped it and it shows to belong to them so they can't hold it against me but other guys who have gotten fired or quit from them have gotten screwed in other ways like my trainer he left before I ever came to work for werner he had to come back cause of what they did to his Dac that is why they do these things black ball you so you have to come back to thembut they charged him with 2 chargeable accidents and they were both in the state of NY. He has run DG with Werner the both times he worked there out of Scottsville,KY so he has never ever in a semi-truck with any company including Werner...........It is your life but take my word it is not worth the headache you will get while you are there. I spent two weeks in Dallas,TX after they sold my truck I had been in for 3 months out from under me and I had to go there with it they had no trucks there for me and about 60 other drivers who they had sold there's so they got rental cars and plane tickets and sent us all over the places to get them so helping them recover trucks other drivers have left and quit in. 6 of us went to Allentown,PA from Dallas,TX but again your call....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED......THIS IS FOR THE GUY WHO IS GOING OR THINKING OF GOING TO WERNER IN AZ READ BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING CRAZY LOL

Its a hit or miss with Werner, some have good luck others bad.It will depend more on you and how you drive and what kind of report your trainer turns in after the 300 hours. As for dedicated or regional there is a list for them so I doubt if you get it right away but will depend on where you live, good luck for you will need it.
