Maybe it's because when a driver is involved in an accident, or when there is repeated instances of drivers who genuinely come up dirty, it complicates their job. They have to do paperwork.

Some may even feel that the negatives that they are required to document reflect upon themselves, and it makes them look like they are not keeping things under control. And if you ask me, they aren't.

I don't offer this to defend Werner, because they aren't really defendable in my opinion. For over five years running, of all the major motor carriers out there, they have amassed the highest accident rate. One out of every seven of their trucks has been involved in a DOT reportable accident. They are an accident magnet.

This is in spite of the fact that they have the utilized the paperless log system, that is supposed to be tamperproof. The only good stat that they hold at the moment, is that their drivers are not often found to be in violation, and thus are put out-of-service.

They hire a great deal of newbies. I don't blame new drivers. I also don't know for sure whether or not this is related to their horrible stats. I suspect that it is, and the reason I think it is related, is probably because they are not staying on top of the training that their newbies receive.

When you contrast Werner to Schneider, who vastly strengthened their training standards, and to JB Hunt, who basically suspended the hiring of newbies with absolutely no experience, both of those companies completely turned around their safety stats practically overnight.

So it's easy to see that the safety department at Werner stays rather busy, and has for quite some time. It's not hard to imagine that their attitude would suck.

Varimon, you are a smart person. The fact that you kept documentation to attest what happened over a period of a few minutes, which clearly shows the breathalyzer had a problem.

Pull your DAC report as soon as possible, and if there is ANY reference to that incident on it, don't walk...RUN to the nearest lawyer, and go after them for everything you can get. You can't lose.

The regretful thing here is that you essentially quit, rather than to have let them fire you. It doesn't change anything, because you still have the proof that the machine malfunctioned. There is no way to explain a difference of that magnitude any other way.

So, the worst thing at this point is that they use this erroneous finding to prevent you from moving on with your life. I hope for your sake they don't, because that's not fun.

Please keep us informed on how it all goes, and I do wish you well.

What you should have done is asked the person administering the to 1, show you his certification to operate the machine in an official capacity, and 2, show you the calibration records of the machine. Both of those items are required before a "LEGAL" test can be given. If one or both aren't present, you cannot legally be held liable for the results.

Same thing goes with radar sensory devices certification and calibration records must be kept current and on file with the department that operates the equipment. (<<<< Ex-cop and Ex-prison guard>>>>)

Good for you. Why do they still bring people in to train when there are no trucks or jobs for the 2,000 students driving now? I won't talk about legal part but it will happen

Let me ask you this, Now that have all that experience. Was your trainer at least a nice person that made your learning a positive experience? or at least care about teaching you? or did your trainer scream at you everytime you asked him to repeat what he said. He talked like he had a sock in his mouth and would look away when he said something. Made it harder to hear. He said I had bad hearing. Did your trainer assault you? And of course its dark at a truck stop and you can't get in touch with anyone at Werner. That was my 4th trainer. I tried to be nice and I kept my cool. We got a motel Werner was nice enough to pay for when it was over 100". There were some Bekins guys celebrating something and gave him beer and whiskey. I don't drink and I don't care if people do but when he puked in our bathroom passed out I had to clean so I could use it the toilet. The first trainer basically ruined my faith in Werner and the desire to even do long haul. I was basically his passenger to constantly complain about Werner. Not for an hour but every day. Didn't let me drive much Broke too many laws to count Would put his high beams on if a car passed us like is this day and age people can get shot at. Honked the airhorn for no reason. Told me that he was taking codeine and that was the day I got off that truck. Just outside Las Vegas. I wasn't or couldn't be on the truck until we got to a Terminal. Of course it cost me $400 to get home with no reimbursement. I told my SDM and wrote what was going on and they don't care. I forgot he lowered his window to feel how warm it was so I did too to feel the air. He rolled up my window on my arm and blamed me. When I reorted this I thought they would at least UA him. I saw him 6 weeks later in Denver with a student. Unbelieveable. It was hard to return after that experience but I spent $4,500 for school and figured I would get someone at least nice. He was 22 yrs old. Left his wallet at a truck stop during a snow storm. Got across the pass about 1 1/2 hrs. He actually acused me of some how making him lose it or taking it. He had borrowed $200 from 2 days earlier. Against policy I found out.Next day the truck stop where we fueled called and had his wallet. So we dropped the trailer and drove all the way back. Got back to get the trailer and I was going to drive. Did a pre trip and guess what The outboard rear tire on the trailer was flat. He wanted me to drive it that way.!!! Compact snow no problem. I told him no way of course. He said but we have to get it to a shop to get the tire fixed. Hello? Heard of Les Shwab? They actually come to you and fix the tire. He didn't know that? So we were at a truck stop and this other trainer mentioned I should get off his truck. I didn't exactly know why at the time but I was told about the borrowing money thing which I got back right away. He was going to put me in a motel and go home for Christmas. I went back home with the other guy who told me that the guy was saying as this bs about me. The truck had to go to the shop in Seattle si I let him stay ay my home do laundry fed him and he talks bad about me. So I'll get back to the last guy another time. My SDM was told about it and they keep records. so everyone go to Werner enjoy but don't expect a job. they have 2,000 students on the road now. Doesn't matter what the economy's like. It's such a joke the there slogan is WE CARE. All these messages come over the QCom about being concern about the ozone layer or it's national earth day but guess what? Not using fuel is what they are concerned about 30 below or 105 above. Clarence and the Fam only care about themselves and the shareholders.

How many times about the same thing? He talked like he had a sock in his mouth and would look away when he said something. Contact SDM and get a new trainer. Made it harder to hear. He said I had bad hearing. Did your trainer assault you? Call Safety! They used to give a lamenated card with all phone numbers. And of course its dark at a truck stop and you can't get in touch with anyone at Werner. Again call Safety! That was my 4th trainer. 4 trainers in how long? What happened with the other 3? I tried to be nice and I kept my cool. We got a motel Werner was nice enough to pay for when it was over 100". There were some Bekins guys celebrating something and gave him beer and whiskey. I don't drink and I don't care if people do but when he puked in our bathroom passed out I had to clean so I could use it the toilet. I was basically his passenger to constantly complain about Werner. Not for an hour but every day. Didn't let me drive much Broke too many laws to count Would put his high beams on if a car passed us like is this day and age people can get shot at. So he was using your log to get more hours or were you not getting your 300 hours used up? Honked the airhorn for no reason. Told me that he was taking codeine and that was the day I got off that truck. Just outside Las Vegas. I wasn't or couldn't be on the truck until we got to a Terminal. Good move! If you would have called safety long ago this would have been taken care of. Of course it cost me $400 to get home with no reimbursement. I told my SDM and wrote what was going on and they don't care. Do this stuff on the qualcomm so it is on record. If that was the first they heard of it they probably wouldn't pay anything. I forgot he lowered his window to feel how warm it was so I did too to feel the air. He rolled up my window on my arm and blamed me. When I reorted this I thought they would at least UA him. That makes no sense. I saw him 6 weeks later in Denver with a student. And had you called Safety at the start and kept on them he never would have been sent out with another student. Unbelieveable. It was hard to return after that experience but I spent $4,500 for school and figured I would get someone at least nice. He was 22 yrs old. Ding Ding Ding heres your sign. Left his wallet at a truck stop during a snow storm. Got across the pass about 1 1/2 hrs. He actually acused me of some how making him lose it or taking it. He had borrowed $200 from 2 days earlier. Hey we just met how about a loan? Against policy I found out.Next day the truck stop where we fueled called and had his wallet. So we dropped the trailer and drove all the way back. Got back to get the trailer and I was going to drive. Did a pre trip and guess what The outboard rear tire on the trailer was flat. He wanted me to drive it that way.!!! Compact snow no problem. I told him no way of course. He said but we have to get it to a shop to get the tire fixed. Hello? Heard of Les Shwab? Hello? Ever heard of road break down? Maybe they wanted him to drive on it. Not the first time that has happened (expirienece talking here wanted me to drive 45miles to get a tire fixed with a hazmat load). Your trainer should have grown a set. They actually come to you and fix the tire. He didn't know that? So we were at a truck stop and this other trainer mentioned I should get off his truck. Advise you should have listened to. I didn't exactly know why at the time but I was told about the borrowing money thing which I got back right away. He was going to put me in a motel and go home for Christmas. I went back home with the other guy who told me that the guy was saying as this bs about me. Huh? The boys are running it, right into the ground.Clarence and the Fam only care about themselves and the shareholders.
Now for those of you who think I'm harsh. I spent the last 5 years with them. No it was not a picnic. I now work a local job. They are not a great company and will step on you every chance they get. I don't defend them at all however this poster needs to take this as a big lesson. 4 trainers for a 300 hour training time something just doesn't add up. Sorry for the long post. Be careful out there.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, Everett.
Would you expound on "half truths" please?
