These posts are about people who have had bad experiences, so all you will get is bad news about them. Some people they have been a nightmare and for some they have gotten off fairly easy. They have their ups and downs like any newbie, large corporation, etc and I have experienced both sides. Go ahead on over to the DAC section for Werner under Motor Carrier Questions and ask some specific questions. I am with them now and its been ok. I try to help anytime I am with any company.

i am currently working for werner. I am very dissatisfied. I recently sat in a parking lot for 30 hours!! The first 16 hours I waited for my trailer to get loaded, then it was canceled. ( i arrived at 9 pm and then the next day at 1pm I was told it was canceled). I was told to sit tight and i would get a new load. 14 hours later I was given a load and rushed on my way. I am continually treated and talked to like a dog by WERNER fellow employes. God help u if u need service some where. Forget it, just slit ur wrists and end it..WhenI was training, a shower??? three days out with my first trainer I said hey what about a shower. He said on the weekends!! ru kidding? ru kidding??? I am currently making about $400 a week. for a 7 day work ready week. staying out at least 30 days at a time. ridiculas!! I have to bid my time and get my year. But this company only "cares" about teh "WERNERS" NO one else.
ps. I am a happy guy. just not use to this life. My bad I put me here, I will pay the price for now.

stay away from swift.....my husband works for werener and boy does your story sound like his. the most he has made is 625 and this past check was get this..hold onto your seat....23.00. the weekend and night dispatchers dont give a ####. my husband has been driving for 14 yrs. and 2nd time back with werner....they do nothing but screw you over. i was going with them when i finished school but what they are doing to him made me decide hell no. now they are pestering him when will i be joining him.well i went with a local company that way one of us can be home everynight with the kids. my husband is buying time to go back to his old company next month. get out while you can. he held on because he was told it will get better. well dont know about you...but what can 23.00 dollars buy?

you need to have this mindset ok...coming from someone who was married to military for 13 yrs and currently married to a truck driver now......they are gone all the time...its in their blood to run.....you have to get a back bone and be strong. they will give you all sorts of moods....esp when they are tired and cranky......you just lay into him and say look stop being an a zz and get with the program call me back when you arent so tired. eventually he will understand its hard on both ends...good luck..

I've been with Werner almost 2 years now and I have had good times and bad times. It's kind of a cr@p shoot. I started out in an 07 Century with 250,00 miles on it and a lot of body damage. It looked terrible but was clean and drove nice. I ran that truck up to 517,00 miles and last week the clutch went out in it. I had it towed to Freightliner in Harrisburg, PA. They said it would be a week to get it fixed. My dispatcher tells me, "ok we'll get you a new truck". He rents me a car and I drive to Lynchburg, VA to recover a truck from another Freightliner dealer. This "new" truck is an 08 Cascadia with 451,000 miles on it. On the way back to Harrisburg It starts running like cr@p. I find that the plastic intake tube is cracked. Now I'm at another Freightliner dealer, in York, PA waiting to get this truck fixed. I haven't had a load since last Wednesday.

Now, some may argue that Werner is just trying to use up some of their old equipment before they put all the new trucks in service that they have sitting at their many terminals collecting dust. I dissagree. I was a trainer for 6 months. 2 of the students that I graduated are both trainers now. They both have brand new trucks. They have both graduated students that have brand new trucks now. Where is my new truck?????

I am not one to complain usually. In fact, I have defended Werner in the past when other drivers called them the worst company to drive for. Most of my time with this company has been good. I have always had good miles and have never had a paycheck less than $600 gross. I've always been on dedicated accounts, and am now team driving so I can be home every weekend. I don't pester my dispatcher and call him to complain all the time. That will just tick him off. I take the loads I am assigned and deliver them as quickly and safely as possible. If my truck breaks down and I can fix it myself I do it. They reimburse me for the parts that I buy, and I get on down the road. I have not had any accidents yet and only one minor speeding ticket back when I was in training. I can not see any reason why I should not have a new truck after 2 years of good service. I am sure there is some sort of system in play that I don't know about.

I am not saying that everyone's experience at Werner will be the same as mine. I just wanted to give potential Werner drivers an insite other than what the recruiters will tell them. I am not planning on quitting Werner at this time, however, If I run this truck up to 517,00 miles and get another high mileage garage queen to replace it, It will be time for me to start filling out applications.

Just my 2 cents, hope it was helpful.
