Re: Another Swift Admirer

It's easier for alot of folks to blame a group of people for their own inadequacies, rather than man up and accept what they really are.

Re: Another Swift Admirer

Okay...enough is enough.

There will be no toleration for any insults of any kind, be they lobbed directly or indirectly, in regard to race, nationality, religious preference, sex, creed, and yes, even sexual orientation.

It has not gone unnoticed exactly who is bringing sexual orientation and racial references against our policy, into subjects where it previously was not a part of the discussion, and it will stop here and now.

To anyone that has been offended now, or in the future when these comments are read, I apologize to them on behalf of The Trucker's Report, the problem will be dealt with, and I am going to remind everyone that we have a simple and strict policy in place. All are welcome here, and all opinions will be welcomed here, as long as they are presented respectfully, and without an aura of obvious bias and/or in an "out-of-the-blue" or unprovoked manner.

And as always, to anyone who finds that abiding by this simple policy, don't feel as if you have to compromise your ethical or moral views on certain subjects. You are as free to leave, as you were to join the site. You are always free to hold any opinion that you wish, but that does not translate into any perceived right to be allowed to express it in this venue.

Littlebit, don't let narrow minded people get to you. People like that try to make themselves feel big or try to justify their short-comings by attacking other individuals or groups with whom they may have a personal problem with. It just shows the charactor (or lack of) on their part. I have read other posts by you and have enjoyed them and look forward to seeing more from you.

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?

Wow turbo just read the diary still trying to get the tears out of my eyes and I mean that literally, that is 1 hell of a man that did that, not just meaning his diary but his comittment to make it work.

I actually grew up about 5 miles from their terminal in Phoenix and my father was an O/O for years, and swift has always had a bad rap, even when I was a kid.The real drivers knew what Mr.Moyer was up to and guess what he succeeded for now he owns half of Phoenix.Just an unbelievable diary though and any one wanting to drive for them should definetly read that diary. It will absolutely open your eyes even more.UNBELIEVABLE

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?

Having read most of the reports on Swift here I agree with most of them.I do not like to bash any company, but Swift is very mismanaged.I consider myself an experienced driver.I came out of retirement early this year and signed on with Swift. It turned out to be a very negative experience.I would never consider going back to work for them. They wanted me to stay on,but I just could not handle the situation with them. They have no idea how to treat drivers, which is the main reason they have such a high turnover,in drivers. After a while you get damned tired of having to fight to get home for a few days.Their policy is 6 days out gets you 1 day at home.I stayed out 18 days and was told I was just due 2 days.I told them dont even think about calling me for 3 days. There are probably some old hands who have been with Swift forever and are being treated half way decent. Then there are those newbies who just signed on and have no idea what a good trucking company is.I dont think anyone here including Turbotrucker is just out to bash someone. As I said before I am an experienced driver who made a bad mistake by doing 4 months with Swift.Course I did learn something, and that is Swift is the bottom of the barrel. If I would have found this site earlier I never would have signed on with them.My advice to any of you who are considering a job with Swift,is dont do it.You are lucky to be getting some good tips on this site.

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?

Just a follow up to my last thread, two people on this site Turbotrucker and Tip,I do not know either one of them, but they seem to post a lot of good advice. Some of you call it bashing, but I see their posts as worth reading. If you inquire about a certain company,be prepared to hear the truth, not a bunch of candy coated BS.

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?

I can't count the number of times I have read posts like this and thank my lucky stars that I found this site when I did. I was so close to signing on with them for the training and job. Heck, I have 2 computers at home and I was pulling up an application on one, and reading about them on the other. I quickly closed the web browser on their site........THANK YOU!!!!!!

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?

I thank you both, on behalf of everyone that gives their time to assist others on this site, because as a group, we all benefit from it.

My concern when it comes to Swift, has ALWAYS been in regard to how they treat newbies. It is Swift's main source of filling those trucks, and so many people have been victimized by that company.

My words on them don't mean half as much, as the words written by those that take the time to confirm that what I offer is true. I thank you Road Dog, for taking the time to do that.

And every time that I read that someone had enough doubt, after reading what can be found on this site, to avoid them and possibly becoming another statistic, it makes all the time I spend on advising others, worth a million bucks.

Why? Because this site, and the efforts of people to congregate, discuss, and to attempt to inform others, is how we are going to make positive change in this industry, and for the grunts in the field, so to speak, most of all.

Forcing companies with horrible business approaches, and who abuse employees, is going to eventually force them to clean up their acts, or close the doors.

Some will say that they will replace American workers with illegals or legal immigrants, but the fact of the matter is, that while this is ongoing as we speak, it isn't faring so well for them. These workers, for the most part, are not flocking in groves to do it, and most of those are not clearing the background checks, because their backgrounds are not documented, and foreign countries have not obligation to comply with the provisions of the FMCSA.

So the bottom line is, if an American based trucking company has retention issues, and doesn't want to clean up it's act, start counting trucks that collect dust, because that's your future, and I'm here to tell you that it's not going to get any better for you.

Swift can go pounce salt.
