Re: Back with new complaint

Sorry for such a newby question, but on numerous threads I have seen references to a "DAC", and how employers can record issues on them. Is this some type of public abstract or driver rating system?

If it wasn't so late, with no traffic, and if he hadn't taken his break in Detroit before leaving to come home (he was well rested), he said he would have waited to make the trip -- and he got his CDL in '85. Don't ever let yourself be pressured into driving if you feel unsafe. The advice you have received about sending your communications electronically were right on. Any company should prefer that the load get there safe -- even if it's late -- than not get there at all. Remember that it is your life and career that is on the line -- not theirs. Many dispatchers seem to think that drivers are lazy and will stop driving for any excuse. They have no idea what it is like to try and handle 80,000 lbs when you're tired, when it is snowing, rainy, windy, foggy etc... Where they are is probably nice weather and they have trouble imagining that the weather can be different anywhere else. Be careful about the recording phone calls thing also. Notifying them of something like that may put you in the 'trouble' category and set you up to be messed with and blackballed using DAC. agree with the advice to get what you can out of them while trying to stay as far under the radar as possible, then get out as soon as you can. You may also want to make sure you have another job lined up before you let them know you are leaving to possibly avoid problems with your DAC preventing you from getting another job. Good luck to you and whatever you do -- stay safe out there.

I have to disagree with this. Do what every you can to get them for trying to run you illegal. Its your life and career not theres. Stay safe

Run through a search on here and you will find plenty of info on DAC.

I agree with all of you on this. Just keep this in mind,if you are caught in this situation again, ice, snow,or fog.,and you are by yourself, shut down in a safe place and call your dispatcher and let him know that it is unsafe for you to continue at this time and why. If you don't have dispatch available at that time,go to sleep, and call them in am and let them know your eta and that you shutdown last night. Most companies don't want a wreck or damaged cargo, if they give you a hard time they are not worthy of you to work there. Be looking for someone that appreciates your work ethics and start a new job.

Swift Transportation Company, Inc. - Phoenix, Az.

Well it is nearly official.

I am just aboput done with this company.

in 31 days time I have gone through 3 trainers.

#1 was a lunitic who got out of his seat while driving 40 east bound toward little rock.

#2 was an ok guy not sure why he put me off his truck.

#3 put me off the truck after taking this forums words to him. I told him he could not force me to drive in bad weather conditions. He told me if I didn't I would be kicked off his truck that night.

Well yesterday in Detroit on 75 south speed limit was 45-55 mph. I was doing 53 mph and he DEMANDED I turn my hazzard flashers on. Traffic was moving same pace as I. I was not passing anyone and noone was passing me. Traffic was not heavey but not light either. 4 lanes 1/4 mile road maybe 75-100 cars.

He demands I turn flashers on.

MCL 257.676b; MSA 9.2376(2). Section 676b reads in pertinent part:
(1) A person, without authority, shall not block, obstruct, impede, or
otherwise interfere with the normal flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic upon a
public street or highway in this state, by means of a barricade, object, or device, or
with his or her person. This section shall not apply to persons maintaining,
rearranging, or constructing public utility facilities in or adjacent to a street or
highway.

says that I may not impede traffic with such device.

There was no purpose for such action to be taken. I refused to turn them on. He stated it was the LAW in HIS truck. (company truck) that I turn them on. I told him I have had enough of his threats and him demanding me to break the law. I told him I was going to the swift terminal to speack to the SC in charge of me. He said fine go there. I drove to the fuel island and went to get out and speak to my SC and he told me there was no need to talk my " *&^ is kicked off the truck " I go inside and fill out another report about this. They nicely put me into a hotel and told me to return today because nothing could be done till they speak with him. He just left after dropping me off. He is to return tomorrow to file a report.

I spoke to my SC today and she said when he files his report she will turn it into the powers that be and they will decide what to do with me.

Before I got on this guys truck I was written up given a counseling report that says I was to stay on this guys truck.

Now he put me off and my job is in jeopardy.

What this all came down to was, although he never demanded me to speed me made suggestions of when it was possible. when I refused to speed or break any law he suggested was breakable he got an attitude.

The fact that we argued over the flashers wasn't the problem. The problem was he has a job offer from another company he is tired of swift himself. He was made I was doing 53 in a 45-55 limited area. he wanted me to be doing the 65 the truck can do. Did he say drive 65? no. But he did question why I wasn't going faster. I told him traffic was fine and if I went faster I would be passing cars. Now is when he tells me to turn flashers on. This is when I refused. As I said before. Traffic was constant not faster nor slower then I. No need to turn them on.

So here I sit wondering whats to come of swift. Do I stay or do I go. Do I stay to atleast complete my training or take other companies up on thier offers.

To say the least MSNBC invistigation team needs to get involved with the lunicy they call swift training.

we all know they let the trainers do what they want. I have paperwork I wasn't suppose to see about letting trainers do thier thing. we know his word will be gold and I am just another mad student in the system. I wonder how many mad students out there there are besides me. Thats what needs to be investigated

the back of swift company shirts.

Swift drivers are our number 1 customer.

Now I know what that means. Thier school makes them more money then the freight they like to think they run.

Re: Swift transportation

unfortunatly you learned that lesson the hard way. I tried to talk my fellow classmates out of signing with werner and swift but they fell for it. Fell for the crap the recruiter was shoveling out. A few more suckers in the mixing bowl.

Re: Swift transportation

There are other opportunities my friend. Make some calls. I was lucky enough to find a company that was willing to look at my app. I'm still waiting for final approval but I know they are a decent company not like the other cdl mills.

It's frustrating, and nerve racking at the same time. We're hurting for money right now but that didn't stop me from turning down a few companies that "promised the world" but won't deliver, After reading about these companies on this forum I feel I have an advantage.

Re: Swift transportation

Mascmo if I were you I would find a big LTL
terminel and put in with them. Estes, Conway,
Old Dominion, Fed ex freight or Fed ex national.
You may be too young to drive for them but
you might get on the dock and yard jockey.
They make good money. You need to get your
foot in the door at a good company even if
you got to sweep the dock. Then when your
old enough you will have a good job.
