Re: Are Swift drivers really that bad? Gotta post this here.Although Swift is in my estimation the worst company to drive for they do have a few excellent drivers and driver trainers.A very good friend of mine, who was also my trainer back with MS Carriers,is still hanging in there with Swift.I have talked with him since I signed on with Roehl, but he seems to be content where he is at.This guy was captain of Tennesees Road team in the late 90s and the following year was Captain of Americas Road Team.He started out with Mike Starnes when he was just starting,to build up MS Carriers.I know this guy operates out of the Memphis terminal and probably gets a lot of choice loads and is paid top dollar.Hell with that kind of background he deserves the best.Back when MS was still alive he was very well known thruout the company, and probably still is.Point here is although a company is very bad,(Swift)they still manage to hang onto some very qualified drivers.

Re: Are Swift drivers really that bad? i am a 911 dispatcher in South Texas. We have over 10,000 trucks go through here every day (according to ours local news). We (police dept) receive a lot of complaints of reckless drivers, and when they are about tractor trailers a large number of them are about Swift and Schneider trucks. They are reported as travelling 60+ miles an hour in 45 mile an hour zones. We also have a lot of traffic accidents involving trailers.

Re: Are Swift drivers really that bad? The last two (and only two, I might add) drivers to mistake the propane fueling area (at the Flying J where I work) for the Diesel fueling entrance, and then continue on (instead of backing up) around, running over the air and water station, several oleanders, etc., with their trailers, were Swift drivers. 'Nuff said.

Re: Swift transportation i never give two weeks notice all that does it gives the company the chance to leave you stranded somwhere and if they are going to trash your dac report a two weeks notice is not going to make much of a diffrence

I dare say that if you would quit on good terms, you will not likely suffer a trashed DAC, or get stranded. The only time I suffered this, was when I did not end my association there on good terms, because the company was a complete nightmare, and I truly DID feel that I would be stranded, for they did this in front of drivers routinely. Drivers can protect their records by documenting the termination process in the reverse manner that they were hired under. Turn in the truck in a clean condition, even if the truck was handed to you in a filthy condition. Have it signed for, and get a signature for everything that you turn back into the company, especially if you had to sign for it when you came on board. Turn in all your logs, and any other paperwork that is needed for their records, right up to the minute you intend to leave the grounds forever. Be friendly. Take all the time necessary to end your employment on a good note, and offer that you have no hard feelings, and hope that they hold none either. Quitting a job can be as pleasant as signing on with a company. When you do it as a gentleman or a lady, it sure makes it hard for someone to trash your record, or treat you like crap. If one does find themself in a situation where they are not sure how their termination will be received, make contingency plans. If you suspect that the company is not going to get you home somehow, if you live far away from where you are hired, then make arrangements for your own travel home. Two weeks, while you are working out a notice, will give you the time to do it. |
