They should send to a collection agency, then it would be on your credit.

I have often herd that if you owe a company some money and you attempt to make an effort in paying what you owe in good faith, (at least one dollar a month) this company can not put bad marks on your credit report.

I do not know this for a fact, so I would suggest contacting a credit bureau first to find out for sure. This would also buy you a little extra time to get settled into a new job, so that you can afford to pay back if you choose to go that route.

I did do this method myself for a medical bill that I got fresh out of high school. The hospital did send my balance to a collection agency even though I was paying monthly, and I continued to pay the collection agency $10.00 a month until the balance was paid in full. This did show up on my Trans Union report, but not as a negative mark. It shows up as an account paid in full and closed. Hope this helps a little!

Defaulting on a loan you agreed to pay back classifies you as poor risk in any future lender's book. You should have checked out the trucking business and the company you signed with before you put your John Hancock on the dotted line. You may not give a rat's rump about your credit now but you will in the future.

But it's OK for them to lie to you? Just trying to wrap my head around your train of thought.

Firstly, my apologies for the above. It was uncalled for. Secondly, of course it's not OK for them to lie to people but a loan default will haunt you for years. There are better ways to handle things like this besides turning your back and walking away because the lenders and collection agencies never do.

first of all, i'm not turning tail and running the other way. when i said "we'll see what happens" i meant just that. We'll see if they want payment in full, we'll see when they start sending me bills, etc. secondly, all they want is 3000... thats 1500 bucks cheaper than the next cheapest reputable cdl school. PLUS i got some good experience with them. I plan on paying it back, but not using their finance options, lol. As for not caring about my credit, you are grossly misinformed. Unlike most people my age(22), i actually have VERY good credit (perfect, actually), so your preaching is unnecessary. As for telling me I needed to check out the industry more, you can roll that up and smoke it too. Things at home changed, and I had to change with them. All in all, I regret nothing, and I would not have got the job i have now (truck mechanic) if i had not been a driver first. I would still go back to driving if the right opportunity arose, but like i said, family will always come first, especially over a company that pays .28 cpm.
