If you have any questions, let me know. It may take me a while to back to you being that I am heading back to Phoenix for orientation and won't have access to the internet everyday like I do here at home, but leave me a note here and I'll be sure to get back to you.

| It's too bad you're not getting in...in a way Man, if every driver thought the way you think, the trucking industry would be a great deal better. You're using your head and thinking critically, and you're listening to your gut. Be advised that there ARE good trucking companies out there, although they are few and far between. As far as drivers go, I'd have to say there are many losers in trucking, but you'll see many good guys, too. Some guys drive trucks because they MUST. They weren't wearing rubbers when they grunted, or they got busted with that dope they just couldn't stay away from. These guys have screwed up their lives and have no other choice. It's trucking or starve. However, most guys in trucking are in it because they want to be in it. To me, these guys aren't losers. And some of these good ol' boys are at Swift.

| I just started for swift, still in training as a matter of fact, and have been considering going to another company since the academy and there ######## recruiting tactics. as for the new happening with swift since jerry has come back, 28% less idle time (or vacate your truck) msg sent to me and my 'mentor' not more then 2 weeks ago. I have also heard that they have removed the jobs of everyone that worked in the Loredo, tx terminal and replaced the whole staff with fresh out-a-college kids. back to my great experience with swift... my recruiter 'Crege Carter' made swift sound like a god send to someone that went from an $8/hr welding job in MI, to unemployed. first he said you get paid for training, and will be fed. pay would be $150/week with $50/week in food vouchers for the local Kroger's. He also said that we would get 2 day's a week off, with 8hr day's in the classrooms, and range. so far not a single word of what I was told by this man is true, we got paid nothing, and the day's in the classes would be 12hr's or more each day. with instructors that did not have the ability to control there class. After the classes we went to orientation... 3 day's long while they put us in a nice hotel... for once, something looking good. The Holiday Inn selects was like an english suite compaired to that Admirality inn in Millington, TN. our last day of class everyone was told they would get paid $150 for the 3 day's of orientation. once everyone was in orientation, we found out on the 3rd day of orientation that "why would we pay you for orientation, you make money with miles, and you aint getting no miles right here, right now." -Swift Mempis Terminal Safety Advisor. after a week of waiting to get into an truck after orientation, I finally get a mentor, and the last 4 weeks, we have been put on extremly crap loads... 400miles with 3 day's before we can deliver. this would be load after load. Through those weeks, I have paid much of my money on toll's, hotel's, wiegh tickets, etc... all of which I was told I would get reimbursed. I still have yet to see any of this money back on my account. I do not put this on to brag about my misfortunes with swift, but I hope that someone considering to join swift's team see's what they will need to expect upon getting into swift. needless to say, I will not be working for swift past september. |

| double post!!! as it turns out, today I got 3 loads back to back for the same company, Proctor and gamble. the first two are fairly easy and smaller loads, eventually putting me in PA, where I was to pick up the 3rd load, we get it down the road about 200 miles and call it a night, only to get a msg on the qualcom saying to keep the truck moving. my mentors HoS is up, and im to tired to keep going to far after the day we had. As it turns out, Proctor and Gamble are on the verge of cancelling swift as one of there carriers, then I was informed that Wal-mart is about to stop using swift as well, HP, etc... three of swifts biggest contracts.

| I figured it was time for me to post my experience. I did the orientation and 6 weeks with a mentor. Orientation was fine, just like they said it would be. I got paid what i was supposed to and got trained what i was supposed to. I got my CDL on the first try so they did something right. When i got with my mentor, i learned real fast what swift was like. My mentor was awsome, he taught me the in's and out's of swift. He never fudged my books, never made me do anything i couldnt handle, but he would push me to see how far i could go. my 2nd day on the road i drove monarch pass. He taught me what type of loads to turn down, what trailers to pick up. He taught me how to use loads to get to places i wanted to go. Taught me the tricks to the qualcomm. But with all that i decided to quit cause i wasnt confident that swift gave 1 ioda about my family. I was not going to miss the birth of my child. I realize that i had a top notch mentor. He said i was a top notch student. Thats prolly a good combination. But even so, its been said before, swift is what you make of it. |
