| If you work for swift, does it make a difference what state you are in? Or are they bad everywhere? For example Minnesota? |

| Swift appears to be confused! I talked to a recruiter just after Christmas 2007, and on the 28th I submitted an electronic application, then immediately called the recruiter to make sure they recieved the app, they did, a week later I call the recruiter still not done, at the end of the next week called again, this time I was told to go to orientation, drove to orientation 250 miles, stayed and successfully completed all requirements, I was told to go home there was no trucks available there, and they still needed to complete my application (they were waiting for a reply from carriers that I had worked for) and since I was supposed to be assigned to a different terminal, I was supposed to call the person that I talked to there the next day, I did and they did not know anything yet, I called the next day and they had completed my application, but it had not been coded yet, (a drivers number assigned) and I said o.k., they told me to call back in a couple of days, I did, they said that I have not been coded yet, I asked them what the problem was? they told me that the terminal that they assigned me too was not taking any new experienced drivers, I said fine, assign me to another terminal, they said they were trying too, I said o.k., I had not heard from them, about 4-5 days later I called them again, and said it is only reasonable that you tell me what were going to do, and the recruiter told me that "I'm sorry, but at this time Swift is not going to be able to offer you employment"now we have been in this process for right at a month. The recruiter did say that she would re-imburse me for the fuel to orientation and back! and they have been very polite. Last edited by MACK E-6; 02.07.2008 at 08.00 PM. |

| Why would a driver with 15 years experience want to work for Swift? You must have had something on your DAC that had them kick you to the curb and make you so jittery in the hiring process. Most experienced drivers know that your past employers have 30 days to do the employment verification returns and would be prepared for up to a 30 day wait to get everything finalized. When a recruiter hooks their fish at the OTR company they will keep things as positive as possible because they don't want to lose you to another company if their is a possibility they might hire you. And with a company the size of Swift with all their problems it would be easy to see how the hiring process could be easy for one driver and hard for another with equal circumstances. |

| I put in an app online through one of their many sites they have that do not carry the SWIFT name but are their recruiting sites. Dishonest right from the start! It took them about 3 minutes to call me and screw up my life. Liars! |

| new driver I am going to attend Swift's driving school on April 8th. I have heard positive testimonials about the program, although I cannot ignore the overwhelmingly negative reviews either. Now, my question is this: if Swift is truly not a good fit for me after a few months, will backing out of the contract result in a loss of my CDL? There is a clause in the contract that states this as a possibility, however I want to know whether or not this is true. Don't get me wrong, it is not my intention to use Swift for a free ride. I believe in honoring agreements, and I intend to stick it out. However, as a potential new driver I wish to cover all of my bases. |

| Do your research and homework and then choose where to go Quote:
If you're bent on going to Swift, good luck to you.

| It's hard to start a new job It's hard to start any new job. I've been with Swiftsince Dec 07 and they treat me far and have kept all their promises. I do my work and they pay me. OTR trucking is a hard life and will take some getting used to. It's like most things in life.. you get out of it what you put in. Swift gets a lot of bad press because they are the biggest company out there. the percentages demand they will get the most compainers. That's life. Make the best of it.
