For the most part the people who work outside the Swift offices are great

However, the people inside the offices of Swift Transportation have a much different idea about their treatment of decent hard working human beings. Drivers are treated sub-human that is a shame. Don't go to Swift just to learn to be a road engineer. Trust me you can do much better..

After I went through the Schneider Training Academy I only spent 4 days with a training engineer on the road. I don't think that is enough. I told the person who was testing me during my Skill Qualifying testing that I didn't feel confident in buttonhooks and backing. He told me he couldn't send me back out with a TE unless I failed the testing. As you can guess I passed the SQT and then passed the state CDL test, an Schneider employee gave The CDL test. Just to show you how confident they are in me they gave me a " Trade in truck" with 750,000 miles so they won't put any money into it. I couldn't get to pass a pretrip and could look at the ground through a hole in the cab by the bunk. The Mechanics suggested I ask for a different truck and when I did my sr told me to take it to the shop. I really feel I was ripped off. I know of people from my class that spent 3 weeks with a TE and the training cost them the same. I really wish I had gone to an accredited 3rd party school. From my experience Schneider is no better then the other mills.

This must be Tip's wife or girlfriend. We keep hearing that were going to be told how bad it was for HER and nothing. And again, hers is just one story. Of course she will probably leave out the parts of how she was not an ideal employee, how she turned down loads, and gave her DM lip and when Swift treated her the way she deserved then it was all Swift's fault; that's if she even drove for Swift. She is probably trying to put together a story that is a combination of others she has read on here.

THOUSANDS of drivers have driven for Swift for years and have found them to be a good company. Some drivers have bad experiences, but drivers have had bad experiences at Schneider, Roehl, and all the other supposedly great companies.

Swift does not treat people as sub-human. It is just amazing the rhetoric that comes off the fingers of the hatemongers on these forums. Smart people can read right past the rhetoric and find it easy to dismiss the fertilizer.

Maybe you weren't treated the way you felt you should be but I and thousands of others can share how well we were treated. But it is not "proof" that Swift treats everyone that way. If they did, why are thousands of drivers happy to be with them. Others are happy to be withSchneider or Roehl and then someone else comes on here and talks of how poorly they were treated.

That is why I call it rhetoric. If people would come on here and just say, "I had a bad experience with this company and here is what happened." But the hatemongers want to generalize and try to apply their experience across the board. And that is just NOT true in all situations. You don't see those of us who are called cheerleaders, recruiters, company folks coming across the same way. We realize that some people don't like a company and some have had a bad experience. I have never once said that Swift is the best thing since hot buttered biscuits. BUT I have said they are a good company and there are thousands of satisfied drivers to prove that is the case.

So you had a bad experience. Who cares? Not everyone in every job has nothing but great times. Every single person that has ever held a job has a bad experience story to tell. Why would your story of what happened to you be a life-altering story for others?

How the hail can he be "simple minded" when he related actual experiences with the company? Why would he NOT believe what happened to him. Am I simple minded as well for having a good time working for Swift? If you answer yes to that question, then you truly are an idiot.

My Experience with Swift

I have been reading the messages posted on here from my e-mail account. I decided it was time to post my own experience with SWIFT! Let it be known though, that I am NOT a whiner.

In August of 07, I fell out of the cab of my freightliner, hitting my head first on the running board of the truck parked next door then hitting the ground, thus resulting in two serious concussions. This happened at the MAIN terminal. I was taken by ambulance to the local hospital where I complained of excruiating pain in the back, neck, ear and elbow. Needless to say, no x-rays were taken to see what may have happened to me in the fall. I was stuck in Arizona (I live in Kentuck) for 21 days, lost my truck after only 4 days of being there. I was put off work for a total of 5 weeks, 3 of which were there in AZ. I finally made it back home after being out for 56 days. I was NOT paid for my time off work nor was any of the $11,226.00 in medical bills paid plus I was out $800.00 in hotel bills. It has been 11 months now and I am still suffering from the injuries of that fall and have been fighting workers comp for over 8 months..At first I was rated as being 15% permanent partial disabled by workers comp...Swift decided to fight it so now I am on appeal #3, trying to get compensated for my loss of work, my medical bills and pain and suffering. I want to say that it was a safety issue which caused me to fall out of the truck in the first place. It won't be very nice if I decide to go after SWIFT for the issue!!

As for SWIFT being a good company...I can't say that they are...I was NEVER able to get home when I wanted to. When I finally would get home, they would send me home with a load that had to be delivered before my home time was up. I was always out for 3 or 4 weeks at a time before getting home then they wanted to send me back out after only 2 days at home!!!

This is just ONE of my MANY bad experiences with SWIFT!

Unfortunately because of the fall I took..I will probably never be able to drive a semi again as much as I loved doing it due to the physical work that goes along with it...

Sorry for your experience but every company will do what they can to fight worker's comp claims. My son was injured while working fo the state of NM and they fought a workers comp claim he had from a work related injury that bothers him to this day, and may his entire life (and he is only 21). The state of NM won and he is on his own. It is an unfortunate part of life.

Well, first off, what was the safety issue, and how many times was it brought to the attention of the company? Why not say "i need this issue fixed, it is unsafe and i could fall out of the cab, or i need a new truck." ??

not blaming, just asking...

Exactly my thoughts. Was a pre-trip or post-trip not done? That might have eliminated the cycle of events that led you to your present.

Also, I send my regards to your circumstance and hope that things improve for you.
